Doc fee is short for Documentation Fees. And it what a dealership charges for all the paperwork that is associated with buying a vehicle. Some dealerships are reasonable with their Doc fees. Some are not.

From what I have heard about WV I think sister store and cousin store would be the same store:unsure::unsure:;)
Damn that was a good one. I can’t believe you thought of that all by yourself....

Try visiting West Virginia, talking to locals, enjoying their presence, learning the culture etc. I’ve been to 38 of the 50 states in this great country of ours and I have yet to meet a better, more personal, more welcoming, more friendly group of individuals than that of West Virginia. I’m so glad I got to spend 4 years of my life there. It is truly THE jewel of the USA and I hope it never changes.

These jokes are tired, untrue, distasteful, and quiet frankly flat out not funny. You can do better. I implore you to visit and explore Wild and Wonderful West Virginia when you get some free time. Have a great night ??????

Sorry. Sarcasm doesn't always come across well when it's written. Especially when you're asking questions....

But yeah, I hear ya. And I agree it's a money grab technique. I don't mind paying for what I think is fair. But when some dealerships have $500 or $700 and upwards Doc Fees, it's pretty ridiculous.

Asked my local dealer if they could match or come close to Stephens... nothing heard yet. They did release that they’re offering a $500 accessory credit. Woody Anderson in Huntsville, AL. FYI

Welp...

Just made a reservation, listed Stephens Auto Center as my dealer (for a fly-and-drive home to MA) and within minutes of doing so I got a personal phone call from John thanking me.

If that isn't a good sign, I don't know what is.

Thanks!
I'm thinking about doing the same thing, about how long of a drive is it to MA? I'm in Southern Maine so I'm not much further

Im in western MA, so I’m a little bit closer.
The other thing I’m factoring is the break-in period for a new car. I figured I would take backroads through WV and PA... take my time and see the sights.

Avoiding all highways between Stephens and New England will add about 50% to the travel time compared to highways.

When I talked to John on the phone, he said he’s putting together a map of local sights for people who are traveling in to purchase from them.

Exactly my plan for my current dealer as well.

Will you offer 0% financing also??

That's up to the finance institutions. If it's available from them, we will offer it.

That sounds better. How can a salesman not know that?

I had been told over the course of the previous year, that the Document fee was set at $250 by State Code, leading me to believe that it was mandatory. It is not, that is the cap. It was done in the 2019 session of the WV Legislature. I just called dealer services for the WV DMV and they verified that it is a cap of $250.

As for "being a salesman", that's really not what I do. I am more or less a public relations guy at the dealership. Sorry for the confusion. I'll edit the original offer to reflect the difference in doc fees.

@StephensAutoCenter Thank you John and Stephens Auto ownership for setting this up! I’m in Charlotte, NC and will most likely be switching over to your dealership soon after speaking with the local dealership my reservation is currently at.

I have a relatively early release night July 13 reservation so I’m hoping I’m in line to get my Bronco within the first few weeks of delivery. I've got 2 questions for you:

1) to your knowledge is reservation order by similar builds the main driver of build fulfillment or will order number in December also be a factor?
2) What will be the order process for your out of town reservations that are switched to you? Will there be a zoom call and official build sheet? Will you place orders by reservation # with the lowest # having their appointment first once the order bank opens?

Again major kudos to you guys and I look forward to having what will become an iconic Stephens Auto badge on my first year bada$$ Badsquatch!

Hey! I hope this doesn’t come off as snarky, but why? I’m in CA and have one reserved via my local dealer so I’m curious about our similar situations but different approaches. I’m just wondering what you get for the seemingly labor intensive trek to Iowa. Again I mean no disrespect I’m just new to this and would like some clarification.
I think you all should form a West Coast Group and start talking to dealers. :)

I would just like to say that a mea culpa like this goes a *long* way for me, and just reinforces my happiness of choosing @StephensAutoCenter as my dealer.

(It would have been tempting for John to weasel a non-answer to his inaccurate statement, but he didn't.)

Thanks John.
