Durabak makes a bedliner without grit in it. But Ford usually puts a lot of wiring and ducting under their flooring so I expect all that will be showing.

You could wait until the vinyl floor is available over the parts counter. Might cost a couple grand? Or wait for a crashed one from the junkyard. Could be a long wait, never know.

Hey @ZackDanger, about the vinyl flooring, do you happen to have any insight on how the floor vents interact with the floor they go through? I'm looking at this later Town & Country TV vid on the Black Diamond here (timestamped at ~13 min) and after he pulls up the floor mats it appears we get a good look at the vents and the "seam" between the vents and flooring appears non-existent, as if the vent's through-hole was cut with a utility knife and no attempt at sealing or "moulded-in-vents" was attempted.

Would you happen to know if this is characteristic with the wash out flooring or is this a one-off mistake? I actually don't necessarily have an issue with the floor vents - though they seem to be much less ideal than conventional center-vents, but I do have an issue with a sloppy or imprecise cut-out which may allow a bunch of water or debris through to the underlying insulation (or whatever is underneath) which could create other issues. I suppose I was assuming that the vent outlets would have been moulded or clipped into the flooring in order to retain a tight vent/floor seal and this moulded vent outlet would then attach to duct work further forward under the floor of the Bronco but that doesn't appear to be what we have here. Seeing this, I think this is an example of where I wish Ford didn't go unconventional and instead just went with air ducting through the center console - totally eliminating this weak point. I assume there was some kind of design constraint but this seems very not-ideal when advertising "wash-out flooring". With that said, I'm assuming this may be the same issue around the seat mounts - sloppy seaming around the bracketing, but I don't think I've seen any examples of this yet.

I know you have them obscure deets, Zack so I'd like to hear your (or anyone else in the know) input on this. :) Thanks!
These are the floor vents.

That three vent thing is like a tube that sits proud of the floor. That is the separate rubberized floor mat up against it and its lip is what you’re seeing at the bottom edge of the vent openings.

The same setup is in the Police Interceptors with the rubberized flooring and is not a problem in that application… that’s to say, I’m not worried about the bronco.

Thanks for the pic, I do recall that one, and it certainly looks much better. Quite the difference though between that "ideal" image and the on on the Town and Country vid:

Edit: With this said, I suppose functionally they're no different as they both don't really "seal" so this I suppose not really a concern either way except for "fit and finish" concerns. I suppose that's what the passive drain plugs are for too - provide a means of draining for anything that gets past the vent. Sand and Mud would be a different issue of course but betting buried in sand or mud seems sort of unlikely, I suppose.

I’m putting armorlite in my gladiator this upcoming week, because I feel the same way about the carpet. Gonna try and put some sound deadening material under it before I install it. My Bronco order has the washout flooring, but I’m assuming there will be other aftermarket solutions eventually. One of the benefits of getting the Bronco a little later, is hopefully less of a wait for all this stuff to come out, and getting to see other people attempt to remove the seats/carpet first!
Thank you so much for sharing this! I didn't know that company or product even existed and I'm going to be doing what you are, along with sound deadening. That was my biggest concern was that it would be unnecessarily loud if I just ripped up the carpet and left it bare or did some kind of rhino line coating. Perfect!

I'm an electrician and also go to the beach sometimes so I have a little bit of everything on my flooring and I'm tired of carpet. Not to mention it'll save me time and allow me to spray and wet vac it up properly.

Edit: crap, I hope they decide to make it for the Bronco. Just found out they're a brand new company anyways. Are there other similar options out there?

I figure they’ll probably make it for the Bronco eventually. It really is awesome, and I think I’ll reconfigure my Bronco order, since I’m assuming aftermarket wash-out flooring will be available for the Bronco. I’m thinking maybe a 2023 2-door base squatch, and I’ll get to keep my gladiator too, because I really love it and would have a really hard time selling.

I remember when the Tacoma offered a “vinyl package” or utility package which gave you a rear seat delete and a vinyl floor. Rangers and F series usually have a vinyl floor option…I have my BD w Sas 4 door in the garage now but I recently ordered a 2 door base w a stick as a collector, being able to add a washout or vinyl floor would be perfect!!

Reviving this thread - has anyone pulled the carpet out of a Base model to see if there are plugs and if it could be aftermarket covered? Now that the Sasquatch is available on a Manual Base, it would save me a ton of money over the Black Diamond.

Interested in this as well, adding the factory rubber floor to my Base would be great.

Check out Lizard Skin for putting on the floor. It is an insulator for both head and sound deadening. It looks similar to Rhino Liner or Linex.

You could pull up your carpet and put that down. You could then lay your carpet over the top with modifying to for quick in and out for washing or shaking sand out.

Unfortunately I was told that the floor pans are different for rubber floors vs carpet floors.

Everything I've seen shows the floor pans are the same, except for whether the plugs are passive or not.

Cool….I was looking to pull rubber flooring from a bone yard as these things start getting into accidents, but was told the floor pans were different.
