I'm sorry if this has been discussed but I spent time reviewing several threads today and didn't see much specifically for this scenario. Looking to replace all speakers and just run off stock unit to improve the horrendous sound of the existing. I see a lot of references to mostly the Infinity Reference series, but open to others and not concerned with budget - just overall best sound for the unit that covers mids and highs.

Thank you in advance fort any and all feedback.

Thank you. I skimmed through most of these but didn't see anything definitive. As an example, the Kicker's posted in first thread seemingly are way underpowered if used with stock head unit vs other options. I get the impression overall the the 4" speakers are based upon preference and mostly see references to the Infinity and also Polkdb series, but also the kick panel seems to be all over the place. Personally, I would think that a standard mid-bass speaker vs 2 way would work better given the placement of the dash speakers, but not much out there showcasing this setup with with stock unit only. Right now I am leaning towards using the Infinity Reference series 4" ( https://www.crutchfield.com/p_108R4032CM/Infinity-Reference-REF-4032cfx.html ) and this Rockford setup with just the woofer: ( https://www.crutchfield.com/p_575R165S/Rockford-Fosgate-R165-S.html?tp=78072 )

Would love to hear from anyone else with something similar and only the stock unit.

Thanks again.

Without adding an amp, you will 100% need a sub for low end. It's a weird siutation because if you replace just the dash speakers and leave the door woofers stock, you'll get bass but it's not good bass - and it will hit its limits pretty quickly. If you replace the door woofers, you'll get cleaner sound but the stock head unit will not be able to drive them efficiently.

I've swapped all my speakers and it's cleaner sounding but there's no bass. Adding the Kicker Key amp and an under-seat sub soon to address those issues.

You might be able to get by with something like this (https://www.crutchfield.com/p_953MJP6/Memphis-Audio-MJP6.html) since they have 100db sensitivity, but I still don't think it'll give you the low end you're expecting without a separate amp or sub.

I'm going 4xdb402 and 2xDb652 Skipping bass blockers and getting baffles, mounts, and connectors. Forscan mod too.

Seems like the best move. Polk are marine grade and can take low power just fine.

Forscan gets full use of rear. Base blockers may be overkill without an amp and for the dbs.

If I want more bass I'll add a small sub later. I'll prob do mine early may if it actually gets here.

You will most definitely need an amp for those Memphis for the kick panels, but they sound awesome when you do.

Thank you. I was looking at those Memphis too. I agree on the powered sub and may down the road, but looking to start with just removing the terrible sound on the existing setup. Appreciate the input.

It’s a domino effect just to warn ya. I went from just replacing the 4” speakers and adding a sub to a full system rebuild with two amps. But couldn’t be happier with the way it sounds.

Agreed. With 125 RMS, I figured the Rockford setup might be a better alternative to try given the RMS spec and sensitivity.

I have the kicker key driving them and they sound great, but with the stock head unit you’d be disappointed. They need some power but 50 rms with the 100db sensitivity works out well.

I went with Alpine S40s in the dash, JL c2-650s in the door and Infinity Reference in the rear pods. Kicker Key amp and Kenwood underseat sub are getting installed week after next.
