Why can't we get a better dressed engine compartment?

The more they organize it the harder it is to move things. It's not pretty but I think it's actually better this way.

So to answer your question... either because they're lazy or because they know we're planning on modding the hell out of these things.

The best way to clean up that under-hood disaster is give us a good-old-fashioned V8 engine option. I'm very leery about the longevity and long-term costs of these wrung-out dual-turbo V6 engines.

I'd prefer a cover. It helps keep components clean, protected, and can provide sound absorption. The engine is water cooled, so the heat dissipation I think is a false argument.

Both the 2.3L and 2.7L bays look like mess and unorganized.
I guess you don't work on cars. Yes they are water cooled but the engine makes external heat, especially with 2 turbos. That heat makes it harder to cool the engine since it is not dissipating into the environment and is heat soaking the heads and intake manifold.
Also oil cools an engine also.
By the way so much dirt gets trapped under those covers you need to vacuum the intake manifold to get all the crap off.

Where do you think the dirt comes from that is on the engine components…falling from above??

They’ve been out for about 20 years now.

It's an off-road capable vehicle, not many people are bringing them to cruise nights and showing off their engines. Jeep stuck a cover over the mess, it holds heat and gives mice shelter in the cold weather. I take them off right away, I have a few of them that I forgot to put back on when I traded a car in. Worthless junk.

I don't think that true of all engineers at all. I think some want their final products to look nice, neat, and squared away.
But hey, whatever, it's all good.
No, they are told to design beauty covers by people in design staff, a bunch of crumpet munching anorexic artists.

Many threads on this topic. I’ll summarize:
1. If you have a 2.3 you can order either the Ranger 2.3 cover or one of the A/M covers coming out.
2. If you have a 2.7 I don’t know as I have a 2.7 and stopped caring about this topic once the 2.3 question was answered. I was only curious, like others I am not interested in adding a cover.

If you are running the 2.3L, Maybe the Ranger cover could fit as well. Its a solution to look into. Its your truck and you have all the freedom you choose to do what you want. I like the open uncovered look.

Yes, and how many miles are they logging before a single or dual turbo replacement and what is the cost? I still don't believe these are as durable/worry-free as a normally-aspirated V8, especially if you're one to want to drive your vehicle 200k miles and beyond. I'm sure there are people out there with EcoBoost F-150s with a million miles on them and no issues, but I'm also sure there are many more people with serious complaints about long-term ownership costs.

For the 2.7, it's called foresight. Ford knew that they would need to replace a lot of these engines so why go through the hassle of putting all the bells and whistles on it?

Oooooohhhhh, too soon?

I was reading a review of the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee and cannot help but wonder why the Bronco cannot get an engine compartment that appears better finished?

Curious if you bought it for off roading or…?

Jeez, tough crowd
Yea, I expected as much. "Buy a Grand Cherokee..." (really?, and did you come up with that all on your own?), and like comments are fine. I'd never post anything if I worried about useless responses. Luckily, there are many awesome people here that actually are very helpful and more informed than myself. And no, I am not a mechanic. All good if you like to work on cars or do that for a living, I'd simply rather not.

Back on topic - Engineering and aesthetics are not mutually exclusive. I found the new Jeep to be particularly clean, hence the comparison pics. I would argue that properly routing and managing the various wires, lines and componentry into something that is aesthetically pleasing is a plus.
