If you have an automatic there’s really no need for the parking brake Manuel yes am I missing something

1. I almost put the standard disclaimer in my post, but then thought "do I really need to put that on EVERY SINGLE post about my rig?"There is a ton of reservation holders who don't even have a build date yet. Which is driving people nuts. And this dude is griping about a parking brake smh![]()
You want to shake your head, you think griping about someone else is 'more worthy'?
I get that one because I have a Corvette with the T-handle brake, but it's in a different spot and the action feels so much different that I don't think I'd ever get confused. Using that T-handle certainly hasn't helped me want to pull on the tiny little Bronco button to set the brake. My Toyota has a pullout T-handle which activates the brake, and would hate to have them reverse that function and mess with MY muscle memory. Lol
No, I can't. How would you accidentally engage the parking brake? (Not an e-brake unless e means electric). I assume it's "smart" enough to know when you're moving and it wouldn't engage no matter what you did with it.Can you imagine going down the highway and accidently PUSH the E-brake switch in to activate it?
The vehicle is heavy and I'm not a fan of putting that much pressure on the transmission if I don't have to. Plus I have a steep driveway. If you have an automatic there’s really no need for the parking brake Manuel yes am I missing something
When would you expect this bump on to happen? What would be the consequences? You'd have to have a pretty knobby knee to get in there and depress it. If a knee could accidentally engage it, don't you think Ford put it in the wrong spot? Have you ever accidentally set the parking brake (without your hand) in any other car?But here is the thing, if it pushed on, it would be too easy to bump on - say with a knee.
If you saw the park pawl inside an automatic transmission you would use a parking brake on level ground. "Park" on the trans is not strong. If you use it as a replacement for a parking brake it will fail.If you have an automatic there’s really no need for the parking brake Manuel yes am I missing something
This is news to me I have had many auto trans vehicles and never had to use the e brake unless it was a really steep incline so your saying the parking brake should always be engaged if it’s recommended to always use the p brake I will but I have heard horror stories about the bronco p brake like the handle breaking or it being permantly stuck so you can’t move the vehicle some people got engine codes from using it lol guess there’s only one way to find outIf you saw the park pawl inside an automatic transmission you would use a parking brake on level ground. "Park" on the trans is not strong. If you use it as a replacement for a parking brake it will fail.
My point was, It could accidentally get pushed, not sure how maybe a knee when rolling over or flopping like a fish in your seat but you would never pull it on by accident lolWhen would you expect this bump on to happen? I think that's it for my questions.![]()
