Just saw Ford added the slide-out tailgate option on the builder site. Stopped by the dealership to add it to my build and manager says it's showing up nowhere and he can't add it. He's going to check again tomorrow.

Anybody had any luck with this yet? I want to make sure it's added to my build before the March 7th order cutoff.

My dealer didn’t have any issues adding the slide-out tailgate to my rig. He sent me a new DORA which had it listed on there as well.

How much was it adding it to your build?

MSRP was $600, but I’m not sure if that changed with the recent price increase.

People have waited so long for the long-teased tailgate. @flip hopefully you can locate a part number to suggest aftermarket availability someday?

We can only hope. Rumor was it is only available to be installed at the factory, but I'm hoping that is incorrect.

It's so expensive and likely still late availability anyway. Build your own. We've got two guys here who have with better designs. and likely 1/4-1/3 the cost.

This was one, but he deleted it, I think hoping to sell plans or kit. Reach out to him, Kelly....https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/cargo.32818/

and there's another thread since then that I haven't bookmarked....the slides are on Amazon, the whole thing is built out of 4x4's or doubled 2x4's for the sides, using the existing holes for the D rings, then heavy ply or maple covered in carpet and hinged so you can open it or slide it....

Here's a pic that still pops up:

Interesting... Any idea how long ago you had it added to your build? I've checked the builder site every couple weeks and today was first I saw it being available.

I added it to my build on 1/9/22. A member over on the other forum mentioned that he got scheduled/VIN assigned with the slide-out tailgate option, but other people have also said that it won't be available until late 2022.

Looks sweet! Deff glad I added it. What is the texture of the cargo floor like (the part that doesn't slide out)? Interested to know if it's hard plastic or like a "rubberized" material/feel.

Also, how difficult is it to remove the top (like in your last picture) to potentially access the storage bin below? Wondering if it basically renders that area useless.

The top part of lighter than I expected, but very solid. It feels more like a "rubberized" material/feel. 1/2"+ thick. Heavy enough to stay down even in a bumpy ride (there are no clips).

Area below is still accessible, and the storage is very accessible. There is NO carpet in the back area (beside the back of the seats).
