Ok, so this is my dealer also. He sounded SURE mine was going to sit in the rail yard. It is in the same town Birmingham, where my dealer is but stuck at the rail yard since last Friday.

I tracked it through the train route.

I signed into the trucking sight that moves it from the rail yard to the dealer. It is in the rail and shows the route from the rail yard to the dealer but shows “waiting for pick up”.

It just does not make any sense to ship it all this way for it to sit less than 10 miles from the dealer waiting on a chip. Who would be installing chips at a rail yard?

I did have a chip hold for a few days but both the 1-800 number and the dealer had it removed before shipping. Now the dealer shows a “production hold” and delivery date of 5/26.

To give a timeline:

1/28 blend 1289/2270 edd 2/20-2/26
2/2 built
2/9 shipped
2/18 arrived in town at the rail yard waiting on trucking to dealer. 10 miles from final destination.

Any thoughts from the group?
Seems nuts to me. Cruel joke. Doesn't seem likely but who the heck knows anymore?

My salesman just called. The Bronco has landed.... Only bad thing is I can't get up there until Thursday.
Want me to write you a medical leave form to put you out of work for a couple of days?

This process reminds me of a traumatic childhood experience at the dentist where they left me sitting with fluoride as other kids come and went, like they forgot about me or something

Shady Dealers.......

I think that is crazy. Fully agree that they wouldn't send it to the rail yard near the dealer and then fix the chip there. They don't own the lot and would have to send someone to do the work plus ship the chip. If anything they would send it to sit at the dealer to be fixed, but why send some and have so many sitting on the mountain?

Mine was shipped via rail and arrived on the 19th to the Auto distribution lot. Now shows sitting on a carrier about 10 minutes from the rail yard in a lot (looks like where they park carriers before they travel per Google maps) and has an ETA of tomorrow at the dealer.

Yeah man, mine says he has a few Broncos sitting there at the rail yard already waiting for weeks now... I really hope it's not true but who knows..

Yep, that was my dealers statement also. That he has had this happen before and not to “expect it anytime soon”.

Said he had several there in the same situation. Some for weeks at a time and some for months at a time.

Crazy thing is, when you look up your Bronco by vin on the trucking sight that moves it from the rail yard to the dealer you can see ALL the vehicles waiting to go to your dealer. There are several other Broncos and a bunch of Bronco sports all with the same status.

Maybe it’s true but just seems far fetched at the very best.

You’d think the rail yard would charge a storage fee of some type. And dealer lots are empty. Plenty of room to store the Broncos in need of chips and easy and immediate access once chips are available. But heck. That would make way too much sense.

LOL. It’s almost as if they are watching our forums and gaming us with what they grab to finish. Having to rent a car again this weekend as my wife needs to travel and we have one car until this damn thing shows up.
I definitely get that. My husband had to take his truck with him to Texas until next month and my son and I are down to 1 vehicle. My dad has graciously offered his truck for me to take to work the few days I have to go in but I hate having to rely on someone else’s vehicle.

The real world impacts from the production shenanigans ford is doing. All about the bottom line. And zero communication makes me so damn mad. But I know it’s useless to try and talk to them.

This could be something to do with the dealer/manufacture relationship that Ford goes to market with. Accepting an incomplete car would be risky without an implicit agreement of liability between Ford and the dealership. What happens if the incomplete car is damaged once it is at their site? Lawyers and insurance companies would be having none of that. The rail company might be making money holding the vehicle, for Ford that may be acceptable if they lose less money holding it somewhere cheap verses dirt mountain. Of course that is all purely speculation and what is much more likely is that the salesperson is being yelled at by 50 customers a day and would rather you didn’t bother them while they are playing on their phones.

Makes sense. My [total] guess is the sales people just don’t know what’s going on. Maybe their system still show Chip Hold, and maybe cars are sitting at the local yard way longer than they’d expect. Assumption, they must be sitting at the rail yard until they get finished. Reality, there are unrelated delays in local delivery. 🤷

makes sense. I was also wondering how bad it would look having Broncos that are spoken for sitting on their lots. People would inquire about them and what are they going to say? “oh these are sold but not finished being build. Lacking chips. Want to order one of your very own That may or may not work completely upon arrival?” Maybe it’s bad PR and marketing to have them just sitting around. The things I think of while driving my boyfriends car back and forth to work……
