Does the 4 doors even matter for passenger space?

2 door better for trails, more purist.

4 door gives passengers more room and comfort, windows that are able to be opened, more cargo volume.

If you're going to regularly haul 3 or more people in your Bronco ( and they aren't small kids), the 4 door really is your friend and everyone will enjoy the experience far more.

If you ride alone or only haul passengers with you on occasion the 2 door will likely service your needs sufficiently.

I considered a 2 door because I do like the way they look, but there were just too many compromises. I have a family of 4 and I actually felt that the back seat was totally fine for my kids to ride in; the 2 door would have been great for taking my kids to school and running errands around town.

But while the trunk area is fine for groceries, it simply isn't up to the task of a weekend trip with my family. I mean, I measured my cooler and the one I have wouldn't even fit behind the rear seats, let alone provide the space needed on top of that for tents, camping chairs, tackle boxes, sleeping bags, ect. A Bronco that was unable to take my family camping for the weekend just didn't make sense to me. I guess its a good fit for empty nesters and single people.

I know this will not be a popular opinion, but I wish that the smaller wheelbase version of the Bronco didn't exist. If Ford would have just built their 2 door version on the exact same longer wheelbase as the 4 door, then the 2 door would get the exact same larger rear bench seat, the bigger trunk, and the larger fuel tank. Here is a photoshop from the B&P comparing the current 2 door to what it would have looked like if they built it on the longer wheelbase. If they built the larger 2 door on the bottom, I would have bought one for sure.

I think you may be shopping for the wrong vehicle. Even a 4dr makes for a very compromised daily family driver. This is a very expensive toy that is going to cost you a bundle to operate .

Nah, my other car is a Honda Odyssey minivan so I'm covered. An expensive toy is what my family wants for a 2nd vehicle. We have plans to camp at Silver Lake where I look forward to driving on the dunes. We have a road trip out west scheduled in the Fall, and we intend to take the Bronco so we can check out some trails and do some hiking.

The 4 door Bronco is a good fit for my family. If you are actually using the rear seats in a 2 door, all it can really handle is a day trip. It looks nice, but it sacrifices awful lot of utility for those looks. That's why I yearn for a larger 2 door!

I can see some advantages in certain kinds of rough terrain situations for the shorter wheelbase of the 2-door.

Sound like what you want is the four-door, but you don't want the actual back doors. You want the space of a four-door, but you want passengers to have to squeeze behind the front seats to get into the back seat, and you want to have to work around the front seat to get at any cargo there.

Every two door vehicle I have ever had has been a terrible pain in the ass to access the back seat area, either for passengers or for cargo. (I have much more often used the back seat area for cargo than for passengers with every vehicle I have ever owned.)

Why? I don't get it, unless it's out of some purist notion that a Bronco should only have two doors, because all the previous versions only ever had to doors. If a bronco is going to be as big as the four-door Bronco is, I see no reason for it to not have four doors.

You couldn't give me a BroncoWagon, except to sell it for a Bronco (2-door). For as much as I love the looks of the Bronco, my opinion of the BroncoWagon is the polar opposite. There are just too many good looking 4-door SUVs to choose from to go with a BroncoWagon. Whereas a 2-door SUV is a rare and unique beast, especially with a manual transmission.

It all depends on how you're gonna use it. 4-door let's you far more comfortably enjoy the vehicle and the trails with others.

If just me and a very occasional passenger or two- the 2-door is great.

However, If you want to enjoy the beach, trails, etc with others in regularity the 4-door provides a far better option.

I've had 2-door jeeps forever, but we always had to have two as nobody adult aged enjoyed trying to crawl in and out of the back seat or liked its claustrophobic feel. The 4-door eliminated needing two as the same adults can now easily and comfortably ride along.

I think the 4-door is gorgeous. It reminds me of the 80s Landcruisers. Side by side the 2-door looks poorly proportioned to me. I know I'm the opposite of almost everyone else.
