To the OP(s) thank you for making this guide. This might be one of the first mods I make to mine when I get it (if not the first). I might have missed it in the 25 pages this thread has generated, but could someone point out to me what exactly the "sport" mode does? For reasons that are probably obvious, googling around for the words "bronco" and "sport" just wind up with pages and pages of results about the Bronco Sport and nothing about the Sport GOAT mode.

Adjusts shift points, tightens steering, faster throttle response. It’s immediately noticeable. When you change from sport to slippery while driving, your speed actually declines if you keep your foot in the same place on the throttle because of how much the gas pedal changes.

There is a very good post about the Magnussen Moss act on the tacomaworld forum that many people should read. The net is that Ford has more lawyers and money than you do, and it can be hell to get a denied claim overturned. Unless @Ford Motor Company post on here and says this forscan mod to add goat modes is ok and won’t effect warranty claims down the road then completing the mod has risk. I would like to see some official guidance from Ford on the warranty issues of simple programming like removing double honk, adding fog lights with a factory switch, double press on the panic button, or other convenience mods.

Is there any definitive word yet, as to whether doing this would cause any warranty issues?

Anyone here who can speak for @Ford Motor Company or any dealers watching this?

So far as I understand the law, it shouldn't, but you never know what excuses might successfully be used to deny warranty coverage.

@D2dhanover figured out how to unlock GOAT modes with Forscan. I tried it tonight on my Badlands and instant sport mode. Took less than 5 minutes. Went on a test drive and everything seems to work exactly as intended. Activates 4A, has the full graphics package, different transmission tuning, different steering feedback, changed throttle response. To those who bought a wildtrak over a badlands to get sport mode you may have been shortsighted. Fortunately it’s not too late to change for a lot of you. Don’t pick your model based on GOAT modes. The true test will be for someone with a base to try. Or say someone with an OBX to try rock crawl.

Update 11/17/21:

2 days now and totally normal with no issues or trouble codes. Any questions of warranty being affected will be between you and your dealer. Most probably won't notice anything different. But proceed at your own risk, especially if you're new to forscan and not sure what you're changing.

Quick summary of how to get Forscan until I have time to do a video showing the change:

1. Download the application here:

You need to register for a username on their forums first to have access.
2. Buy an OBD-USB cable that is supported. I have this one, works flawlessly and doesn't have the "switch" like some of the older forscan cables. There is a list of compatible cables on their website. $50 on amazon.

3. Once you have the cable and the software you can request a free product key good for 60 days. I just bought the 1 year license for $10. I think you can get 3 years for $20. I wasn't sure how much I would use it so I just started with 1 year.

That will get you up and running. You need all this before being able to make changes, so plan to do this about 2-3 days (allowing time for prime shipping on the cable) before you're ready to make software changes.

All GOAT modes are available on the Base 👍

I did not read all the replies. Does making these changes with Forescan void the warranty?
Officially, yes on voiding warranty. Nobody from Ford is going to log in here and tell us it’s ok in writing, so it’s a risk. It should be a minor risk, just like activating a factory fog light switch, but it’s not risk free.

So if someone else has the program loaded can they do multiple vehicles?
Or is their some sort of copyright protection?

If it is possible, and someone is willing, I will gladly pay anyone in the Sacramento area to do a few mods to my Bronco.

Actually “officially” no on voiding warranty. The warranty is not voided for modifications. If Ford shows that it caused the problem, then that specific issue won’t be covered. Otherwise, warranty is intact.

Don’t double down…Ford tells dealers to err on the side of approving warranty claims, and it’s rare that they are denied when the mod didn’t cause it. Sport mode isn’t causing issues, and they know that. Stop the irrational fear based on hypotheticals that are detached from reality.

I will wait for Ford to release a tune for the 2.3L rather than doing an aftermarket tune, too much risk for me there.
