Just curious. Why wouldn’t you want to run DRL?
I don't have the signature lighting and the half circle lighting on the standard headlight looks strange to me. Plus it's an added load on the battery that just isn't needed in sunny Florida in my opinion.

Just a word of caution - many states require DRLs to be on by law, but it’s your vehicle.
Anything goes in Florida. It's like the wild west over here.

One time that we turn off the DRLs is when we go to the Texas Motor Speedway Festival of Lights at Christmas. They request that you turn all lights off as you go around.

I always forget how to access them in our Jeep Grand Cherokee until I really need to!

By having your headlight(s) on during the day, your motorcycle couldn't be seen? Is that what you are saying?

With the popularity of the asphalt colors, it strikes me as more needed than ever. I'm surprised you had the opposite experience given motorcycles are often harder to see anyway (more so when they are speeding and zig-zagging through traffic).
No, I switched from always on to DRL

Maybe he means that most time moto riders ride with their high beams on. I do. ONLY way to be seen. Well, I can be heard. Hahaha! My Full Akro Evo 4 is 110dB, Amount limited on a racetrack.

It's not an added load on the battery.

Glad to know this. The only place I need to have them off is the Drive Inn where they require them off or covered when driving in. Saved me a step 👍

These are the worst reasons to turn drl off. Whatever load they add to the battery is negligible and unless you drive with a mirror in front of your car you won't see them

Did you miss the part about being in sunny Florida? If other people driving can't see a red monster truck during the day because the headlights are off then God help us all.

I'd imagine that not running the daylights CONSTANTLY would greatly extend bulb life.

So Light bulbs and LED don't have a lifetime hour rating? They just last forever huh?
If you want me to school you in front of everyone I will, but they often outlast the vehicle. How many vehicles with DRL's have you owned? I'm not being snarky. I'm curious. I have owned many, and every motorcycle I've ever owned runs lights all the time. These aren't old school incandescent bulbs you plug in that blow out when you shake them too hard. Everything has a service live, but most LED's will outlast us all.

I've seen plenty of cars with dead LEDs, so I' think I'll take my chances with good old fashioned manual lights. I don't mind hitting the switch when the skies turn gray. You seem like the kind of guy that wears a helmet and a reflective vest on your bike, but me i'm more of the lazy kind of guy that would rather not have to go through the hassle or cost of changing my lights more than necessary.
