Wow! I cannot believe it's already been 10,000 miles. It's like realizing your child is a teenager and you start asking yourself where the time has gone. Well, in my case one old adage is definitely true. Time flies when you're having fun!
When I first received my Bronco at the end of July I posted about what it meant to me. If you didn't see that post back then here is the link.
https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/what-my-bronco-means-to-me.20769/
In that post I talked about how the Bronco isn't just a car for me. It's not something to drive around town in and look cool. It's not just a possession I have to fill a materialistic want. It's an experience.
I talked about how I was going to use that experience to enjoy life. And I'm here to tell you all that in 10,000 miles I've had a lot of experiences and adventures. Since I have hit the big milestone I thought I'd follow up my original delivery post and share with you all some of my experiences. I also thought I'd share the obligatory likes and dislikes. There aren't many dislikes. But most of all I just wanted to continue sharing my story. So this isn't the typical "review" post. There are enough of those floating around. I will give my brief opinions on things, however, this post mostly comes from the heart and sharing the joy I've had with this wonderful vehicle in the first 10,000 miles. And maybe help some people who could be facing the same decisions I made.
My experiences:
As I said, I got this vehicle for the experiences. And I have already had a lot of those and made some lasting memories. I have visited the beaches of Florida. The drive there and back from Tennessee was very smooth and comfortable. So far I have driven the Bronco in 6 states, including 4 states within a 5 hour period! I have cruised downtown Nashville. Driven to the highest waterfall east of the Rockies. During the summer I made several visits to a drive-in movie theater. In the fall I drove the Blue Ridge Parkway in NC and attended a pumpkin festival there. I also stayed the weekend in the NC mountains at a wonderful historic inn. Trail riding and overnight camping in the beautiful mountains of East Tennessee. Most recently we rode in a Christmas parade and won 1st place in the small float category!
I bought this vehicle for the experiences of living life. I have already made a ton of lasting memories in the first 10,000 miles. Looking closely at my Bronco you can see the evidence. There might be one or two rub marks on the side mirrors and door handles from getting too close to trees while squeezing through them on the trail. There might be a few light surface scars from limbs and bushes. But that's ok! That means you are having memorable experiences! I know the next 10,000 will be even better! For those of you who have received your Bronco, congrats! I hope you're enjoying it as much as I am! For those of you still waiting, be patient. I promise it's worth the wait. I hope everyone will be making memories with me soon!
Pros after 10,000 miles:
I have had absolutely no problems so far. Still drives great, have not had any type of warning lights or signs of anything breaking. The heated seats get HOT ha ha. The heated steering wheel is nice to have. I love the adaptive cruise. LOVE the 360° camera! Love the 12 inch screen. Every single person who has ridden with me is amazed at how smooth the ride is. Every single time I drive in the wild I am amazed at the handling and the comfort of the ride.
Cons after 10,000 miles:
I love this vehicle so much that I don't want to complain about anything. The pros definitely outweigh the cons and the cons are not big enough to sway my opinion on the vehicle. However, nothing is perfect so here are a few of my nitpick dislikes.
The Ford navigation is absolutely terrible. I much prefer using Google maps through Android Auto. Several times I have tried using the Ford navigation when it directed me to wrong ways or dead ends. One time I tried using it to navigate to a restaurant and it wanted me to drive through a gated community to get there. And yes the gate was closed. I totally gave up using it. I really wish I could switch out the 3 years free of the service that is included with LUX for something else.
The wireless Android Auto is very glitchy. Whenever I'm streaming music through wireless Android Auto it always starts skipping. I don't use the wireless any longer and just plug it in.
The windshield is the biggest bug magnet I have ever seen. I have to clean it every time I drive over 55. In my previous car I would go months without cleaning my windshield. But in the Bronco I clean it every time I get gas. I got the hood deflector hoping that would solve the issue. It helped a little but not much.
Those are the only things I can find to complain about. Everything else has been wonderful!

Delivered July 30, 2021
Order specs:
Outer Banks 4 door area 51
2.3 automatic
Soft top
LUX
Roast leather interior
Sasquatch
Modular bumper
Steel bash plates
Auxiliary switches
Floor liners
Front license plate bracket
Front window tint
My original order included 2.7, MIC top, and tow package. I dropped those on my revised order date. When deciding if I wanted to revise my order to possibly get it faster, I asked myself which options were non-negotiable. For me the sasquatch, LUX, and leather were the "constraints" I couldn't give up and still be happy with the vehicle. The 2.7, MIC, and tow were just "luxuries" for me and had no bearing at all on whether or not I'd be happy with the vehicle. So those are things I dropped. 10,000 miles later I do not regret that decision at all.
I'm not a "gotta have the biggest engine and everything should have a v8" kinda guy. Do I want something that feels weak when driving it? No. However, I thought 300 hp would be plenty for me and I was not wrong. I have no complaints at all with the power from the 2.3.
I actually wanted a soft top from the beginning. But when I found they didn't come wired with connections for the hard top I decided to go with the MIC and get the soft top later. Since that was my only concern with the soft top, it was an easy switch to the soft top when the MIC top problems started coming out. It does suck that Ford decided to include the hard top connections with the soft top after I took delivery. But oh well. I absolutely love the convenience of the soft top. If I had the hard top I know I wouldn't drive topless near as much as I do with the soft top. And that's a big reason for having this vehicle.
I wasn't concerned about dropping the tow package because I knew that could easily be added later.
For me the sasquatch was definitely a must have. Sure it's easy to add a lift and bigger tires after taking delivery. But having that suspension come from the factory with the proper gearing, front and rear locking diffs, and under factory warranty made it a no brainer. I didn't want to jump through the hoops of adding that stuff later.
I chose the Outer Banks over the Badlands for several reasons. I knew that I would probably never use the sway bar disconnect. Rock crawling isn't really my thing and I'm not really interested in "technical" off-roading. Sure there may be a scenario here or there where I could use it. But I know the type of off-roading I would be doing wouldn't require it very much. That is about the only thing that separated my Outer Banks build from a Badlands off-road wise. I liked the color matching mirrors and door handles on the Outer Banks and liked the tube steps instead of the rock rails obviously since rock crawling isn't my thing.
The tube steps also help in deflecting rocks that get slung off the tires. Several people have told me they have small rock chips on the bottom of their vehicle from the tires slinging rocks into it. After 10,000 miles I have not experienced that problem and I live on a gravel road. I also preferred the interior choices of the Outer Banks. I like an interior that "pops" and isn't boring. The all black MGV for me was just boring. I also wanted power seats so leather was the only way to go for me. And I got the back seat cup holders! Ha ha. And sure the wash out flooring in the Badlands is good in theory. But how often would I actually need that? Probably never. I'm all for getting the exterior all muddy, but I like to keep the interior clean. Whatever mud I do track in is easily washed off of the floor liners.
Accessories I have installed:
Rigid amber rock lights
Hood deflector
Bimini mesh top
Tailgate table
Cargo liner
Cargo area under floor vault
Tow package
The rock lights work pretty well. They connected easily to the auxiliary switches. I like the look of the hood deflector on the front and was hoping it would help push more bugs up over the windshield. It helped a little. Just a little ha ha. I think the mesh top is a must have if you have a soft top. Not only is it great during the summer, but it also helps reduce some road noise that comes through the soft top. And for added noise reduction you can even lay a black blanket over the top of it while the soft top is closed. Tailgate table is nice while camping. Cargo liner is a must have. Cargo area vault is super easy to install and gives a good inconspicuous area to secure valuables in. The tow package from Ford took a little time to install the wiring but overall wasn't very difficult.
