My dealer has had my Bronco for a month waiting on Ford to call them to figure out why programming the gateway module keeps failing. Dealer got the message below from Ford

Does this mean whatever is needed to program this module has never been added to FDRS before for dealers to use or does each dealer only have access to certain things? Seems really strange to me that if thatā€™s the case.

From Fordā€¦
ā€œThe FDRS team is still working to get the GWM PMI application added to FDRS. I will update this form once a week or once it has been added. Have a great day!

Thank you,
J

Iā€™ve never specifically looked for the GWM PMI application so Iā€™m not sure if it was there in the past or has been missing this whole time.

I would guess itā€™s probably just an issue with the latest version of FDRS and itā€™s missing for some reason since Iā€™m sure others have had the GWM replaced before.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. What are your thoughts on the issue in general. My concern is, could this be the tip of the iceberg with this Bronco. does something like this suggest the likely hood of more issues are pretty high or could it really be just a bad module and once fixed life is good?

Knowing what you know about these trucks and repairing this kind of thingā€¦if this was your truck would you stick it out and just wait for them to load the software, or would you have big concerns on the future reliability of the Bronco? Iā€™m not desperate to get the truck but donā€™t want a lemon either!

Appreciate your insight!!

I don't know what your original concern was or why they're replacing the GWM, but It isn't anything that I would be overly concerned about.
Sometimes things just go wrong, sometimes they don't. It's really impossible to tell if you'll continue having issues or not unfortunately. Personally I'd stick it out and continue to enjoy it unless things continue to go wrong.

I took it in because of a front end leak. I asked about a hill assist system failure I got and the dealer found a ton of different system failure messages in history when they looked so they kept it. Drove fine to me but I donā€™t have they have truck currently, not sure if it drives or not at this point.

Thanks for the insight, I really appreciate it. I feel better and think Iā€™ll wait it out and see if they can fix the Bronco.

Iā€™m used to my ā€˜94 Toyota pickup with 320,000 miles on it and no real computer systems so still a tad leery of the new tech!!!

Thanks again!!!

What the message is saying is that Ford didnā€™t get the new module installation tool on FDRS, which is the computer the dealer uses to install the software in the Gateway Module. That happens occasionally on different vehicles and modules. Itā€™s not a problem with the Bronco, itā€™s an oversight of the team responsible for providing support to the dealers. Nothing to lose sleep over.

Thanks for that info, I appreciate folks of the forum sharing experiances! Hopefully Ford can get whatever is needed uploaded and available to the dealers.

I think I should have not spent every waking moment reading the posts on this forum for a year before getting my broncoā€¦I instantly go into doom and gloom mode now when something pops up out of the ordinary!!šŸ¤Ŗ

My 86 F-160 got to 360,000 miles before it would no longer pass smog. I don't trust this new fangled tech stuff either.
