brian_b thanks so much for the thorough reply. Tinny is another great adjective for what I’m experiencing. I’d rather have the paper stock cones that were more balanced than an aftermarket that sounds high pitched and overwhelming. Thanks for the counsel.
Yeah without an amp you may be better off with the stocks. The aftermarket speakers need a bit more power to be able to push - isn’t about volume it’s about sound pressure, and bigger coils and heavier drivers just need more power

You could also try a speaker with a higher sensitivity - like the Infinity Reference or Hertz

Yeah I would agree with looking for higher efficiency speakers as Brian mentions above. I know it's a simplistic explanation and alot more goes into it but:

a 3db increase in sound (which is noticeable) generally requires a doubling of amplifier power. By that "formula"/logic an improvement in speaker efficiency of 3db (or more) can have the sound effect to the doubling of amplifier power (without actually doubling it).

Hopefully all the sound engineers and electrical gurus don't nitpick the rudimentary explanation, but that 's probably the easiest way to explain it.

The factory speakers are probably 88db efficient (at best) the Infinity and Hertz mentioned are 92+ that alone makes for a significant and audible difference. Now as for sound preference, tuning and soundstage - that's a whole different ball game. I had B&O and was disappointed - more so based on the amount it cost for the quality of the sound vs what I could've built separately if I hadn't opted for B&O. With my current (I'll call them budget friendly) changes I'm extremely happy.
