So, I did order the hitch mount from the factory, but it came without one and the dealer installed one.......but it has a 4pin connector. Has anyone rewired this and converted to a 7pin connector? If so, what are the steps and what do I need to splice? Any help would be great on this! Or a "link to" an external online-wiring-diagram would be great :) Thanks in advance!!! :)

I need to do this as well. I have the older 4-pin trailer setup, and would like to get to 7-pin, just haven't taken the time to research how to add the brake controller (getting a reverse light and power isn't that bad). At the time I was doing the install, it didn't look easy to do if you didn't have the Tow package from the factory - not sure if that was true or is still true though.

One of the nice things about the '24's is they all come pre-wired.

Is this just for that LED light??

If you want it to be fully functional, it's probably best just to get the kit. But if this is just for that little light, then I'm guessing (not familiar with that light) the only thing missing is the reverse signal, and that would simply things a bit.

Yes - I think the reverse signal would be the missing link. .......I think. LOL. I'm just not sure and would hate to start splicing and dicing "in the dark"

Okay yeah. So their documentation is light, but it seems they only need 4 wires... reverse, brake, running lights, and ground. And you already got all of them with the 4-pin except the reverse light. So you just need to tap into the reverse light signal, which should be a green/brown wire if memory serves. (You should double-check before cutting.)

No need the full 7-pin unless you want to add it for future use.

If you are just looking for the 5th pin for reverse which is all I needed (not a full 7 pin only a 5 pin), I bought this plug and play kit from Diode Dynamics. It does two things for me, I have a pair of extra lights near the hitch that are plugged into this wiring kit. They turn on when I am in reverse for a brighter lights. I also spliced into the power wire of the lights and fed that wire for the 5th pin for the 5 pin trailer harness. I installed a 4 pin harness off the taillights a while back, this allows me to run a 5 pin. I also bought a 4 pin to 5 pin (My boat trailer has surge brakes that need the reverse 5th pin to disable the trailer brakes when in reverse.)
