I've been spending way more time reading the 2022 ordering guide than I should, and I've come across something that bothers me...

Does anyone know why, or have a good hypothesis why, the flip-down tailgate would be excluded from certain builds?

For me, this isn't just a minor annoyance, I need to know if there is a problem with me adding it later or adding an aftermarket table like Goose Gear? A flip-down table on my tailgate means one less piece of gear I need to cram inside my 2-door or strap on top of my roof.

There seems to be no problem with Base, Big Bend, and Outer Banks. This is what the ordering guide says for those...

It is NOT listed at all for the Badlands, and this is what it says for Black Diamond and Wildtrak...

Ford Bronco Tailgate Table: Typo or an Actual Compatibility Issue With Certain Trims? 20211012_070939

REQUIRES 4-DOOR.
What!?!!

Is there a structural issue? I had my heart set on that table. And if didn't get that one from Ford, then I was going to get the table from Goose Gear (which is a lot better, heavier capacity and a slide out extender, it just doesn't say BRONCO on it).

But is there something about the 2-door on the "off-road performance" trim levels that precludes me adding a table to my tailgate?

It's a weight rating thing.

Whether the weight has to be kept down for purely regulatory reasons, or whether there's a real structural problem with adding more weight, I can't say.

I’m betting on the 90F Slideout Tailgate does not allow the tailgate table due to clearance issues between the two options. They most likely interfere with each other when installed, this would either bend the tailgate itself or prevent it from closing.

This. 4 door would get it more space between the two with the tailgate shut

This is definitely true. All the order guides say the flip-down table is incompatible with the pull-out tailgate.

I'm just trying to figure out why the 2-doors for Black Diamond, Badlands, and Wildtrak can't have the flip-down table.🤷‍♀️

More importantly, will the real reason turn out to be something that will cause problems if I add it myself or add the Goose Gear table.🤷‍♀️

That is the real question we haven't seen the answer to. Does it cause an actual weight or balance problem, or does Ford prevent this feature just to avoid knocking the 2D Bronco into a different class for government regulations? Or something in between, like reducing the tow capacity?
