I was thinking about rear storage with the roof off or back. Not sure I like the armored box, or the sliding drawer option. Got to thinking, it would be great if somebody made a cut resistant storage bag that could attach to the tiedowns in the back, and had a locking zipper. A big bag that could take up the back and expand to the top of the tailgate. That way it's easily removable or collapsible if we don't need it. Cut proof and lockable for some sort of security. It's not 100% secure, but most thieves don't want to hang around too long. If they can't smash, slash and grab they would move on.
I did a search and could not find something of this size or offering. Would be great if a company came up with such a thing. Could be secured by grommeted holes to the tie downs with bolts and washers inside and out, an engineer could come up with something better to secure it to the tie downs. The medal solutions are good but a bit bulky for my tastes.
Just thought, even a cut proof webbing would be great.
