the head unit isn't sending a full audible range to the rear speakers. no matter what speakers you put back there, they will only provide a small range of audio. Some people swear that forscan can "unlock" full range audio but I tried and many others have without success.
I was successful with the forscan getting a flat EQ line. My Kickers in the rear sound great. I also added a small Kicker powered sub and all is right with my audio world.

This is true. I don't have rear passengers and the fronts sound awesome. I guess I expecting the same quality sound from the rear that I'm getting from the front. . I would even possible replace the Kicker rears with a different speaker but I'm no gonna throw a bunch of money into the rear speakers if there's not much benefit.
Back in my youth I competed in car stereo competitions and the rear were often never installed and certainly never turned on for a competition. My $6,300 aftermarket system in another vehicle has the power faded all the way to the Focal front tweeters/mids.
