Hi all

just got a 2025 Bronco. Looking to add a rock rail / step combo. What are my best options to help kids in but keeping it safe.
thanks in advance.

For kids, look for something that has some sort of grip, a way for water to drain off, and avoid narrow steps that hang down.

Rockslide Engineering is the defacto standard, but they have a narrow step that bassist says to avoid. These are pricey, but it’s a decent rock rail and powered step combo that will hold up to light and moderate off roading. No issues with grip or water retention though.

The other option would be the Ford rock rail (or one of the imitations that are compatible, such as IAG), and use one of the many available saddle steps. You have to remove the step (usually an Allen key or set screw) before you use the rock rail as a rock rail, but you can get any size/width step you’d like here. Cost will be much lower, step will sit a bit higher and not be powered.
