I know we’ve all noticed the increasing vagueness on production dates for the Bronco. However, some of the current language really leaves them open for further delays.

Some of the language that caught my eye was:

  • Odd they target June, but can’t guarantee it.
  • Configuration: late December at top of page, late 2020 at bottom. I would assume configuring your vehicle would have a set date by now. B&P delays?
  • The big one. Production nears in spring 2021. That leaves them open for a summer production start.
This isn’t a complaint. It’s gonna be ready when it’s ready. However, don’t be surprised if the first Bronco is hand carried out of the factory on June 30th by Bill Ford himself. ?

My feeling is that the next update will list July somewhere in the text.
More delays are a potential help to Jeep. There's no way that Ford would purposely screw up their launch advantage.

One of the bigger problems, with a potential 12 month wait time, is the variability of material and labor costs. Surely Ford factored this in when they announced trim prices. Hopefully the option pricing delays we've experienced aren't being used as a tool to pickup some additional margin Ford may be missing out on as a result.

Its best practice for them not to set a concrete date to avoid any disappointment.

Figure you have this flood of reservations but cant determine yet how many will be sales and who will refund. Based on that, some people get bumped up in line.

There's also a pandemic which I'm sure will affect production to a degree. Furthermore, they still seem to be doing quite a bit of testing. I'm also sure they're wanting to maximize sales in all areas so maybe a slight delay so accessories can be widely available. Everyone is excited when they get a new car so why not try and flood them with options day of. Wouldn't surprise me to see specials on addons "if you buy day of deliver" or something. Me personally, I want to put as much down as possible so I wouldnt even mind an August Delivery date.
Agreed 100%. If my Bronco delivery is not going to be until August or September, 2021, then I have 2-3 more months to save for the down-payment. My truck is probably going to get me between $11k-$12k and I plan on having at least $7k-$8k down which I am well on my way to doing. An extra 2-3 months could let me save a couple thousand more, which means less financing and a shorter time till I own it outright. All good things for me!

Recently, vehicles in high demand seem to be a way for dealers/makers to make even MORE money for those models. There are many articles about the KIA Telluride selling for way over MSRP just because COVID has strained production and a whole lot of people want to buy it. I expect any prospective Bronco buyer without a reservation price locked in, to be in that same boat. Ford can either flood the market and take market share from Jeep; if they can't keep up with demand, dealers can charge an arm and a leg for whatever they can get whenever they end up getting it. Even if it means in 12-18 months! No real downside for them.

Recent market trends suggest that customers want something unique on the road and will do/pay anything to get it.
