Pechuck Lookout, Oregon

I went back, this time with some accomplices, to Joyce Lake and beyond. Pechuck Lookout (4,338 ft) is Oregon’s only remaining stone fire lookout, open for day visits and first-come, first-served overnight stays. Moderate-to-strenuous hikes (e.g., ~5-mile round-trip from Rooster Rock Trailhead) lead through forest to panoramic Cascade views. Unless you know about a shortcut, then it's a brief but steep hike up.
