Hi Folks, this may be a tough question to hear being asked for some of you who are seasoned adventurers:

I have a '22 4D Black Diamond on order with a built week of 4/4/22 (reserved 7/20/20 and priority 99 for '21). When I chose the Black Diamond as my trim level, one thing that intrigued me is the use of MOLLE panels on the backs of the driver/passenger seats for added storage. I will also be getting a MOLLE panel for the lower grab handle area of the passenger's foot well and have the Tuffy fold-down tailgate table that is MOLLE ready. I have seen no shortage of photos from everyone on here with their MOLLE setups and I love the way I can have my knife, flashlight, binoculars, gun, water bottle, etc... in these different locations based on my needs.

BUT... I have never used a MOLLE system before. I am going to get accessories for them, but how exactly do I attach things to it? Do MOLLE accessories come with Velcro straps to use for this? Do different brands use different attachment techniques? Does the B6G community have any recommendations on what companies have a good assortment of accessories for MOLLE panels?

Many thanks, Bronco Brethren!

Molle is a system of mounts. It stands for Modular Lightweight Load-Carrying Equipment.

The mounts come configured differently depending on the usage. So, you'll have strap mounts, mesh mounts and grid mounts. Oh, and webbing.

Now, to attach things to MOLLE mounts, you need straps.

Straps come in many fastening configurations. Some are button, some are tension straps, some are velcro, and some are buckles. It typically depends on usage.

The purpose of MOLLE is to attach equipment in such a way that it is very secure and able to be modular simultaneously.

Once you get your hands on some actual MOLLE kit it becomes fairly apparent how to apply it. You shouldn't have too much trouble.

However, as a recommendation: Avoid button straps. Unless they are heavy duty with multiple buttons, they typically are the worst of the lot. They'll snap open under weight and that's never good.

Anyways, good luck!

There is a lot to answer here despite being a somewhat simple question. Almost all the molle bags/accessories I've seen have the attachment straps sewn into them for strength. These are meant to be attached to soldiers gear after all. Attaching them is basically weaving those straps in and out of the system on the seatback AND the webbing on the pack itself.

There are tons of places to source from, amazon, military surplus stores (if they're still a thing), etc. Because of their popularity the quality is all over the board now. USA made stuff seems the be the best but a lot of ebay and amazon stuff is increasingly being made in asia. There is now a molle bag for just about every need, in any color and in any size.
