MOAB itself is nothing special. It’s fine. Not exactly Sedona. And remember it is UT. Not tons of bars - at least compared to where I live. 😂. The Red Cliff’s lodge on the other hand is special. Fantastic place. And it is onsite. If price isn’t an issue I can’t imagine why one wouldn’t want to stay there.

I fed the horses out of my patio door in the morning while drinking my coffee. To each there own but when I wake up I’d rather see this (below) then the Red Roof Inn across the street.

Had a great time doing the Off Rodeo today. When I reserved a few weeks ago it only showed 9-7 for the time slot today. I rolled in about 8:15 and was surprised by the number of people in the registration area... then they started rounding everyone up to go. Then one of the guys explained that there was plenty of time, this was an earlier group. So I shopped for stuff to fill my voucher (and then some).

Talked with the guys working registration, asked them if I could get a 2 door. They said they only had 2, and they weren't sure if there would be one in my group. A little while later they said my group's Broncos were ready and there was a 2 door Basesquatch. Turns out there was only 2 other people in my group, and they both had 4 doors.

We had Mandy for a guide and she was fantastic. So knowledgeable about the area and the trails, as well as the Broncos.

We ran Dome Plateau and got to do some extra fun stuff because we had Mandy and a small group.

Highly recommend. I had never done any real rock crawling, most of my off road experience in dirt, mud, and mountain roads. It was amazing what the Bronco could do.

ETA: forgot this was food/drink/lodging thread. Staying at the Hoodoo Hilton. Very nice place, decided to burn some rewards points and enjoy (80k points per night, 20k more than the other Hilton properties in town). Ate at Antica Forma last night, pistachio pizza for the win, but try the Caprese, didn't look like much but it was one of the best I've ever had.

I’ve been looking at that Homewood and a Wyndham (I think), both look rather clean with what looks like a serious breakfast in the mornings.. Steak and Eggs looks to be a T-Bone; impressive.

I don’t mind paying up to $300 per night, but if I can keep it cheaper, will certainly try to.

Appreciate the tip on Arches. Will secure reservations well in advance.
Avoid Days Inn like the plaque…

I live in Moab and I’d agree that Red Cliffs is a worthy experience given the peaceful setting. Town is overrun by loud UTV bros and gets a little boring IMO but it can be nice to walk around to shops and food.

Red Cliffs was amazing, check out the room end of the edit. Milts Diner and Moab Brewery for eats and drinks. Moab Coffee Roasters has the best coffee. We had such an amazing time, and I think the edit turned out!

The Raven Room bar was a nice stop for cocktails and enjoying the evening with my wife, its off the alleyway behind the main drag by the post office, can be easily missed

Had a great time. The Moab diner wasn’t bad for breakfast. Their skirt steak skillet was pretty delicious. Had pizza at Moab Canyon Pizza Co… it was bomb delicious. Another night had the fish and chips at the Moab Brewery… pretty good but the onion rings were WOW so good!

Brought the fishing rods with us but only brought the lightweights (so the Colorado river and Green River were out). Went to Kens Lake two different days… NOTHING. Hit up a lake in Grand Junction on the way home and both of us limited out in 2 hours and that was after throwing several back.

The lunch at the Off-Roadeo was really good (great make yourself sandwiches, chips, cookies, fruit). The dinner? Meh. They tried.

Don’t ask the locals about fishing spots… they’ll look at you like you are an alien before reminding you “Uh… it’s the desert, sir!” Ha!

Some video from our day at the off-roadeo which included dome plateau and onion creek.

Very cool video, but man, you could really do without the background music. It’s just distracting, and it drowns out the voices, which I was trying to listen to… 💁🏻‍♂️

For a more local vibe, try staying at one of the places right on Main Street. There’s a cool spot near bars and restaurants where you can enjoy the nightlife and easily grab a bite to eat. It’s a bit more relaxed and less corporate than the big resort options.

Last year, my buddy and I stayed at blue mountains accommodation, and the experience was fantastic. The place had stunning mountain views and a cozy atmosphere that was perfect after our daily hikes.

For Moab, if you’re not into the super fancy spots, you might find something with a good balance of comfort and charm on Main Street. And for Bronco fun, check with local rental places—they often have 2 Dr Broncos for some thrilling sand and dust play.
