This might be a dumb thought but hear me out, I'm sure someone smarter will debunk this thought I have but oh well.
So I placed my order for MY22 like most on October 13th, couple of days later I got a production date and a VIN. From what I have read everyone was kind of blown away by Ford doing a massive production dump with VIN all at the same time. We all know the issues they have had with products etc. MY21 a bunch of people changed as much as possible in order to get their Bronco sooner, did Ford assign VIN's to all of these new orders to stop buyers from changing their orders? To profit as much as possible with higher priced builds or to just normalize the production as much as possible?

There are many people with orders that don't have VINs assigned. Ill gladly take a VIN and keep my order the same if that means I'll get my Bronco next year. I don't think FMC will limit change orders to profit from higher builds.

I think they had the stuff to build these and locked 'em in. Going down in trim, model, top, powertrain would've probably benefitted them more as far as production forecasting and scheduling. Think a lot of folks were next in line and commodities aligned so, boom, here's your VIN. You can still change paint up to a certain point without worry of delay but wouldn't try sneaking in a MIC after your softie got pulled. I heard upgrade from High to Lux was possible but not sure I'd recommend someone trying it.

My sales guy forgot to add the Mod bumper and my order was pulled for the week of Jan 3. Tried to change it but it's commodity constrained so no luck. Not stopping me though, I've waited too long.

From my own experience, once the VIN is issued the only thing you can change is the Paint Color until you Build Week is confirmed and scheduled then you’re locked.

Changed from SB to AMB

My dealer admitted they screwed up my order and couldn't change it to a 2 door (what I actually wanted), from a 4 door (what they screwed up).
Also, sidenote, slightly related, another dealer I contacted about ordering just left me a voicemail basically saying Ford won't allow any new 2.7 ecoboost for the bronco for a year.... Not sure how accurate it is.

Sounds like usual dealer BS in regards to the 2.7.
