Hi everyone, I placed an order on a Bronco tonight at a local dealer and my preview order sheet was marked as the type of ‘Stock’ and a priority code of 80.

From my understanding, type marked as ‘Stock’ is for dealer stock, and priority code 80 is the least urgent/lowest priority number there is.

Ive emailed dealer requesting to change type to Retail and priority code to 10.

Is this the right call?

Brand new order, no reservation? There is no way you would be coded anything less than a 19 like the 80k other code 19’s that got in line in 2020 and still haven’t been built. Did you get a signed sales Order?

Good call, I can understand I probably won’t move higher than 19, but shouldn’t my order be marked as retail instead of stock?

This will be a bare bones, no options, 4 door base with soft top. New order, no reservation, but with the limited build, I would imagine I would bypass some of the higher optioned vehicles.

Also, no signed sales order.

Yes, it should be a retail order and not a dealer stock order.

The dealer doesn’t have allocation to build all current orders and is holding your place in line. You’re asking to line jump their backlog and the dealer isn’t biting. Just buy one of the 5 sitting at my dealer which are base and big bend, low to no option vehicles. Some dealers have these and can be papered down to MSRP between now and the end of the year. Also mannequins are coming up for sale. Dealers definitely had reservations that converted to orders that were later canceled by the customer. Savvy dealers immediately made them unconstrained builds.

And it’s not a retail order until there is a sales order and deposit. You can push the issue but you probably won’t like the deal.

Are you saying with my deposit, and a preview sales order, it shouldn’t be classified as retail rather than dealer stock? Seems like an anomaly to have it classified at Stock rather than Retail.

It’s a priority code. The dealer has more than can be fulfilled in front of you. The dealer is trying to manage the backlog of people that have been waiting for 16 months and have no end in sight. If your dealer only has 50 allotted in MY22 with 150 orders pending, you are at the back of the line (where you belong). The dealer is actually doing a good job managing the system. Ford committed to clearing the backlog of retail orders that were submitted before the March 2021 cutoff. The dealer does not get an unlimited number of order submissions. Kindly ask your dealer how many orders they have and what their allotment for MY22 is. You will understand the problem.

Serious a base can be bought off some
Dealers lots right now. Poke around the inter webs.
