Anyone else experience a completely random "chirp" (it's kind of a combo of a plasticy "chirp/squeak/click") noise from their center console cubby/armrest (hereon referred to as the cubby)?
I've spent hours trying to track it down, but because I can never reproduce the noise on purpose, and occurs at completely random times, I can't find what's causing it.
I've emptied out the entire cubby. I try driving with my arm on the armest, and off the armrest. Nope, still occurs completely at random.
Sometimes it chirps when I put the vehicle into reverse with nothing touching the cubby. Sometimes it chirps after I've been backing up and stop the vehicle. Sometimes it happens when I go over a bump in the road. Sometimes I'll be crusing along on a smooth freeway and it will chirp.
It almost sounds to me like it's the hinge at the rear of the cubby on the driver's side, but I look and find nothing, no strange wear pattern, nothing that would cause the chirping noise.
The other soft-top rattles don't bother me as I expect them and can predict when they'll sound off.
But this cubby armrest thing is driving me crazy.
