I am looking to have the stringer talegate subwoofer installed and it seems like everyone I talk to has no idea how to navigate the wiring that comes with the sub and amp delete.
The audio install shop said I need to have a ford dealership enable the inactive wiring where the delete is and that it needs to be done BEFORE they install. The dealership has no idea what I’m talking about 🙄. Another dealership says I need to have the install do BEFORE they activate it.
That being said, both dealerships I’ve talked to sound like they don’t even know what I’m talking about to begin with.
Can anyone give me some insight to WHAT to ask for and in what order I need to have things done?

I'd suggest finding someone local that can do some Forscan magic for you. There will need to be some changes done to the outputs to make sure it works, and the sub install gets way easier if all the wiring is done/enabled. Otherwise, when you go to test the sub, nothing will work, even if you hooked it up correctly.

If not, a Forscan cable and the software is cheap, and the tutorials on here/YouTube are pretty helpful

It can be done before or after, and easier if before so you know the install is correct. @HotdogThud is correct about Forscan, just need to flip a bit there to turn it on.

If you do it before, the computer will throw a silent code since there is no actual sub installed yet, but it won’t hurt anything and won’t cause any alarms or error lights

I didn't even think of this (and i should have because this is how I'm running my sub, more or less), but you are right, it's another option.
