B&O sub upgrade question. Regarding the stock amp

I’m trying to find somewhere to install a phoenix gold 500.1 amp and LOC to run to my tailgate mounted sub. My question is, the factory amp by the factory sub- is that ONLY for the stock sub? Can I unplug and remove this whole amp/sub enclosure and dispose of it, or does this amp power other speakers? Any suggestions on how/where to install the new amp and LOC?

It powers all the remaining speakers. Replace all speakers with kicker cs or ks. The stock sub is dual voice coil. You can get a harness to connect a new mono sub (I used JL) in the factory enclosure and get a kicker 400w amp to power it. The difference is night and day.

I’ve already replaced all the other speakers with kicker and focal. I’ve already mounted the stinger sub to the tailgate. I’m trying to figure out how/where to mount the amp and LOC. now that I’ve pulled the stock sub out, I understand why it sounds like crap. I’m curious which pair of wires I should run to the LOC since there are two pairs connected to the stock sub.

soundsgoodstereo.com makes the harness to convert the dual voice connections of the stock sub to a single connection to your amp/LOC.

man, $145 for that mounting board ... problem is, I'd have no idea how to make one.

What are your plans for the old sub? I've been debating with an ad the factory sub or buy one of those aftermarket boxes.
