Ah, maybe user error. I couldn’t get it to trigger, but maybe i wasn’t waiting long enough for it to arm when locking. So then I did the whole off/on 6 times (it did honk and arm).I was a little leery of attaching it to the gateway module as it would cover up the cooling fins. Mine detects hits to steering wheel like the manual states. It’s just impacts to the modular bumper and the winch that it takes a huge shock to get it to alert.
You shouldn’t need to do the holding brake pedal and cycling ignition 6 times. That is for the remote start only. And even then the manual states vehicles that came with 4g modems or ford pass are already enabled from the factory.
You just have to turn it on and off once to learn that the vss module has been connected. That worked on my bronco sport and the remote start worked right away. I didn’t install the remote start jumper on this one as it’s a manual and I usually leave it in gear when parked. The first time you turn it off the doors lock then a second or two later unlock and that indicates it has learned the vss module.
