ACM = Additional Customer Markdown. With the many posts about ADM when picking up a Bronco, I thought everyone might enjoy the opposite experience.
My order was July 17, 2021 and I received a May 4, 2022 blend date around March 5. The Canadian Ford website has been nearly useless in tracking production and delivery dates, with the Ford.ca site only working every 10-days to 2-weeks. My delivery date was estimated to be June 3 - 9, but that changed to June 14- 20 on June 2. I would check the Ford website two or three times a day, but would be unable to get the page opened. Finally on Saturday morning, June 18, the website worked and said my Bronco had been delivered to my dealer. I texted my salesman who was out of town, but would be returning on Monday. I was pushing for a Monday delivery as I was going to be tied up until Friday. I calculated the total cost including all taxes, etc. on Monday morning in the hope of speeding up the process.
I went to my bank and got two bank drafts. One for $ 47,833 (should have been $47,883) and another for $ 5,000 knowing the salesman was wrong. When I got to the dealership, I again told the salesman that his numbers were wrong. He assured my that his sales manager had done his job for years, and that I had it wrong. I gave the dealer $ 47,833, paid the $50.00 error by debit card and left with my new Bronco.
I was visiting my chartered accountant son on the mainland yesterday with the $ 5,000 bank draft still in my pocket. We were discussing the ifs and whens the dealership would recognize their error, when my phone rang. It was the dealer's sales manager telling me he had made an error, and would like the $5,000. I told him I was at the Vancouver airport on my way to Russia -- he missed the humour (humor for my American friends). I told him I would come by on Friday afternoon with the $ 5,000. He was very nervous on the phone and asked me to put it on a credit card -- I said no as I had a draft in my pocket. I'll let him sweat until this afternoon!
