I definitely see higher charge temps, especially climbing a grade in the summer out of Phoenix. Even without the light mounted in the grate, my charge temps can hit 255 deg climbing a grade and routinely run at 225 deg at 80 mph on flat ground at 100 deg outside. I've never had a fault, but I...
That is reassuring. I have this bumper and have done one straight-forward recovery, but most are not that easy with a lot of off camber pulling. Didn't think about the skid being an essential attach point. I guess I should take care of that and not bash the heck out of it :)
I've had a DV8 Spec bumper for a year and like it a lot. This was installed on my Badlands SAS Lux so parking sensors and the ACC had to be maintained.
There are a few things to know. I just posted this yesterday on another thread...
I've had the DV8 Spec bumper on for about a year now. I really like the looks and function, but there are two issues: 1) I initially had the light bar inside the bumper behind the grate, like you, and noticed that the intercooler temps were running 20 deg higher. Furthermore, there was no way...
Terrific job OP! That looks really good. Only downside I see is that you have to empty the cargo out of the back to access the drawer gear, correct? Or does the drawer also slide out on rails too? Love the craftsmanship and inventiveness!
I'm not sure I figured it all out, but I did pull the trigger on an approach that addressed most of my needs. I went with the RCI roof rack and I'm quite pleased with it. It just has a better front profile than Trailrax and it's performed flawlessly. Note: RCI had the fix for the rear roof...
My 23 BL/SAS/2.7/MIC has been really quite good. 31,000 miles so far! Oil changes by dealer every 5K miles. My rear window randomly exploded and was replaced on warranty and my front windshield has taken some rocks and has been replaced twice, but my Rubicon had that issue too. Stock Goodyear...
I had Eibach's installed on my 23 Badlands/SAS and went with an icon UCA and an adjustable rear track bar to keep everything well aligned. I maxed out the lift to regain some height from adding a bunch of weight from my overlanding build. It's wise to do UCA's if you're off road hitting it...
I'll add that I went E rated. Noise is no worse than the Territories IMO. I usually air down to 20 PSI off road and run 38 PSI on road. They're a bit more harsh on road with small bumps or potholes, but that's to be expected with E rated tires. I'm not sure how the D's will do. Probably better...
I quickly dumped the stock SAS GY Territories after punching two holes through the tread from rocks on a rough gravel road. They're junk offroad. Went with the Baja Boss AT's after running then on my Rubicon. 18,000 Miles later, not a single issue after wheeling it pretty hard. They are 18...
The overlanding build keeps getting better! Are these thing ever done????
- added a DV8 Spec bumper, Warn Evo 10s, some Baja Designs lights
- added a Smitybuilt tailgate reinforcement with new hinges
- to take the extra weight, and regain some ground clearance, I dumped the stock Bilstein...
That's one beautiful rig! I like the carb grey on black. Nice subtle accents. Hidden winch is tucked in there nicely too. Such a clean look! I hope your Dad improves soon. Mine passed away last year just before I got my Bronco :(
Wowsa! I'd jump on that deal too if it crossed my path. Huge congrats!
Really good point on a small puck in the back. I have no doubt that the Eibach adjustability will allow me to level it out. I just want it leveled (well ... with a small forward rake) with a bit more ground clearance...
Anyone hear if the Eibach heavier rear springs have made it to market? Been almost a year since there was activity on this thread and I'm hoping Eibach released it during this time. I don't really see it on their website?
I'm deep into an overlanding build and have added a lot of rear weight...
He doesn't sell them today. He's a custom cabinet builder for high end homes. This was a bit of a distraction for him fueled by friendship and beer! :)
He built two of them simultaneously for my buddy and I. We helped with the design concept and the install. Buddy has a 4 door BD and I have...
That's a great looking rig! I'm seriously considering that DV8 Spec front winch bumper. How hard have you used the winch so far? Any issues with stress on the bumper?
I assume you started with a SAS rig to add 2" lift and fit 37's, correct? Any rubbing issues at full clock off road?
