Black bear is open, but it definitely has some tough sections. The steps are a little nerve racking, but there are a couple places before the steps that seem worse to me personally. The steps scare people due to the drops to the side. There was a 4runner rolled before the steps a few days...

I live in the mountains between Ouray and Montrose. I'm up there quite a bit and might be up there tomorrow. I've lived here for 40 years and enjoyed every minute in those mountains.
