Had a great experience at Tennessee Off-Roadeo. Picked it mostly because it was closest to home and closest to my likely terrain. People were great, and learned a few things.
Looks great. Weather panels a huge plus; might save a lot of effort re-installing the stock doors when it's only going to rain a day or two. MOLLE is a good touch.
BD Sasq, 2.7L 2 door - 12k, about 1 year old, and no issues, just a lot of "annoyances" that a person my age would have with most new vehicles (how arrogant is it for Ford to just assume that I value hypothetical MPG more than unnecessary wear and tear on my battery and starter by automatically...
Yea, that's the big hesitation doing something like that with the Bronco - keeping that paint looking good after getting bashed & scraped by rocks, tree-roots, logs, stumps etc. on narrow trails. My 3/4 tons never went any further offroad than a gravel pit or woodlot.
Looks like from the photos...
Looks really good. Did you take them to a bodyshop, or are you good with paint? If a bodyshop, how much did it cost? (if you don't mind sharing). I've had several 3/4 ton pickups over the years with steel wheels that I wished the rims matched the body, but the potential cost scared me away.
Definitely want a Bimini (aka Bikini) top for my 2-door Bronco like the one I had in the early 1990's for my FJ40. It was awesome, as I could leave the hardtop off all summer instead of worrying about pop-up T-storms while I was at work - it kept *most* of the rain off, especially if it was...
Sasquatch 2-door. No complaints (and I set my cruise-control at 80 on the interstate). I bought it for off-the-shelf off-road capability, but I need to drive 3-4 hours to get to a decent off-road park, and I'm really happy with the road-manners in a vehicle this sure-footed off-road.
Very happy with my 2-door so far. Considering a rear seat delete for more cargo space - but then, we have no kids, and I rarely used the back seat in my previous daily-drive. 2-door held 2 guys overnight gear + coolers & recovery kit fine. 2-door is NOT for kid-hauling if you want any cargo...
Last few years, I've noticed the same thing with traffic lights - the new LEDs don't generate enough heat to melt the snow accumulation on the lenses. Nothing like approaching an intersection on a snowy night, and guessing whether or not you have the green light.
Mmmm... I might look into that. Going to have some time on my hands this winter if the weather's typcical. I'll make a point to rip a few CD's lossless to a thumb drive and see how it compares ease-of-use v. my MP3.
Someone else mentioned that, and a reply mentioned a fix that worked on mine. Whack it a few times with the heel of your hand, and it should slide over a bit.
I forgot one (or two, depending on how you're counting).
Owner's Manual! -
1) Seriously, I drop >$50k on a vehicle and Ford's too dam* cheap to give me an actual owner's manual? What if the infotainment/LCD screen goes bad? How do you look anything up? On a tiny cellphone screen, after...
What's the best way to fix/minimize/camouflage minor scratches to the paint and factory hardtop once you've hosed off the mud & gone through a car wash? I've never had this problem before - all my previous off-roading was on ATVs or in old beater vehicles (an early '70's Toyota FJ-40; rust was...
Double thumbs up for CD-player. The vehicle I traded had a 5-disc changer. Far better audio quality than my MP3 player. Unfortunately, actually owning your books, music, movies, etc. is not a "thing" any more.
Maybe this is just an old-fashioned, no-bells-and-whistles who guy who traded in a 2010 FJ-Cruiser, and still owns an '07 3/4 ton diesel pickup, but...
Too many unnecessary & annoying noises and too much automatic stuff.
- The thing sounds like it's having an epileptic seizure when I back...
Just wanted to make a recommendation. 2-door Broncos are a bit minimal in the back storage space. This is an awesome solution, and alternative to having your gear rattling around loose in the back, or hidden in packs and duffle-bags you have to search through. BuiltRight MOLLE kit is great...
I've been looking for a water-proof canvas Bimini top that Bungee's to the roll cage. I had one on my FJ-40 back in the early 1980's. Took up very little room folded in the back, fast & easy to take on and off, and (mostly) kept the interior (semi-) dry when summer T-storms popped up while you...
@BHearn9 Hoist for the hardtop roof is way up on my list of things to do before warm weather next year. I'm debating whether to buy one or engineer it myself... Also, I'm really hoping to find a Bimini-style ragtop to mostly protect the inside if there's pop-up T-storms while I'm inside at work.
