I agree with you. It’s crazy we’re finding fixes. That said, would you wanna be a hero and, instead of waiting for rain, test it with the garden hose? I’ll buy you a beer!
Can you test a few times for us and report back? I will replace the motor at my own cost, since dealer won't do it under warranty. But I want to know yours 100% fixed by the replacement before I do. Thank you!
Here's the last note I sent to CCGO:
"I, and many other Bronco owners in this Bronco-owners forum thread, are having their windshield wiper motors turn off during high precipitation — pouring rain or otherwise.
I'd ask engineering to consider whether the smart motor is overly sensitive and in...
Ok everyone. I elevated this complaint with Ford. Got a call from the Executive Liaison CCGO office. They spoke to my dealer and also with engineering.
CCGO confirmed with engineering that this is the correct function of the smart wiper motor; it’s supposed to shut down in low precipitation in...
dealer called me and told me that there’s a bulletin on this issue. But it’s actually a feature of the “smart” wiper motor. If it detects not enough rain, it shuts down. I told them that’s BS. And I asked for a quote on how much to R&R the motor.
My local Ford dealer, Courtesy Ford, isn't taking "diagnostic appointments" until April, which is ludicrous. But I was able to leave it with them, so they can "work it in." Hopefully will have an update for you guys in the next 7 days.
Yeah that's pretty cheap, all things considered. I may just have the dealer R&R it, if they won't do it under warranty. I have friends on the Ford public relations team. I can just harass them on our behalf, if need be.
Jumping in here and adding my experience.
I have a '23 Black Diamond. My wiper motor gives me 25 wipes (I've counted many times now) on the continuous setting before dropping itself down to a lower intermittent setting. If anyone has any updates on fixes (forcing dealer to install new wiper...
