The setup comes with the wire needed to ground to the frame and connect to the battery including an in-line fuse and switch. I routed mine under the rear seat to the driver’s side and then up to the engine area keeping the fuse as close to the battery as possible.

I wanted to keep it low profile, so I bent a piece of metal, painted it and bolted it in. Velcro old the radar detector to the metal. It doesn’t move at all.
Great work and write-up. How did you wire the engine bay lights? Do you need to have auxiliary power on in order to turn them on or do they get power direct from the battery to be switched on at any time?
