This is not true. The tune adjusts to the octane rating depending on the fuel detected. You can use 87 but you won't have the performance advantages of using 92+

I have it - makes a big difference because I have big tires and the extra turbo boost helps make up for some of the extra weight. I didn't use a trickle charger - I've done many tunes and have never bothered with the trickle charger. You should be fine as long as you have driven the truck...
