Eco mode is for around town, not on the highway. It softens throttle response and changes gears faster to keep rpms low, and I believe closes some grill shutters. I would not use on the highway.

I think you are over thinking it. The bungees on my broncobikini top do not move unless I move them, and it's hard. They are very tight. The top also takes two seconds to put on and off.
