The outlet in the back actually can't handle the load since the lights pull about 600w at peak output. I have opted for a 100Ah LifePO4 battery in the trunk with a 3000w power inverter that I took out of my boat which has no problem keeping up with demand.
I'm not too worried about getting the tape off, the lights will only be on there until Jan 1st, and then will get removed. I had lights taped on there last year with a WAY less complicated setup and didn't have any issues with residue getting left behind. After the holidays are done, it's...
No comment...... 😂 In all seriousness, I'm actually afraid to run the show while driving because it would be too distracting for other people. If I am on the road I mostly make it dim, and keep the animation to a bare minimum and not too distracting to look at. (Think all white lights at 5%...
It isn't a light kit at all. it is 4x 1000 count 12v ws2811 pixel LED fairy light strings purchased off of aliexpress and then paired to a falcon controller and controlled by xLights. Took about 2 weeks of work to get it on the car and make it all go.
You mostly program it like you are mentally ill. Basically a giant excel spreadsheet with the bronco set as the background and individually number each pixel one at a time in whatever box somewhat lands under a led in the background image. Then chain things together in xLights.
2 giant rolls of waterproof painters tape. I had one guy asking about it that thought I was driving a camulflaged prototype because it just looks ridiculous during the day. 😂 I wish the waterproof stuff at least came in blue, but you work with whatever you can find.
As a little protip for Android Auto / general infotainment screen crashes and issues. If you hold down the radio's "power button" and the "next track button" (the physical buttons, not the on-screen ones) at the same time for about 3-5 seconds, it will reboot the infotainment center without...
Every single rear cupholder is hot garbage. IAG, Mabett, or the other random no-name from amazon.. They are all awful for the same reason and I have tried them all. They don't stay attached to the car very well. The manufacturers all focused on making them removable, but none of them have...
I have definitively found the rear seat squeak and the cause! It seems to be a design defect on the seat belt clasps where the metal from the clasp strap that anchors the clasp to the car rubs the paint off of a bent piece of metal that is designed to prevent the clasp from falling backwards...
It did ok'ish. Definitely far from perfect, but the color is close enough that nobody has ever noticed. i probably could wetsand it to get things a bit closer, but it hasn't been a priority.
surely there must be a better solution than spraying it with a rattle can. 🙄 If people are going to take them off road, they definitely are going to pick up some scuffs and scratches. In my case it was a rock from a semi pinging off of it.
I just was hoping to avoid having to take a piece off...
I have a scratch on my front bumper from a rock that is down to the metal. Starting to see some hints of rust forming on it. Does anyone have any idea what the touch up paint color is to match it? I went to my local Ford dealer and they had no idea / suggestions.
Oh man, I didn't even think of the damage the heat could have done to the input shaft. I figured the throwout bearing, slave cylinder and flywheel are all toast. That would be crazy if the transmission had to be rebuilt from the resulting heat damage as well.
Probably considerably more than $600 if you factor in labor and all of the other parts that would be destroyed, such as the flywheel, throwout bearing and slave cylinder. The entire transmission has to be removed from the car just to gain access to the clutch. If you look at the bronco...
Blowing up a bronco this fast makes me kinda half expect WhistlinDiesel to post a video all like "So I bought 5 ford Broncos" and then spend a whole video destroying them all with this blue big bend featured at some point. 😅
