I got all my unit/morale patches, my father's Navy submarine patches and my grandfather's 75th Infantry Regiment patch from WWII on semi-private display on the sound deadening headliner.
I have Nitto Ridge Grapplers. If you notice all of the other vehicles were caked as well. It was just from the creek bed that we were following. As soon as we got back into more solid terrain they cleared themselves. I left there with little to no mud on my paint.

I didn't have any problems at all. I think you're probably safe as long you're not doing heavy rock climbing where you're dropping the weight of the vehicle on a corner or performing high-speed foolishness. I think you would have to be pretty careless to damage them.
Finally received mine! I'm starting to clear out space in the garage that has been occupied by parts since before Christmas last year!
