I'm completely satisfied with the 2.3. It has performed just fine from sea level to 12,000 feet, so the "altitude drop off" doesn't seem to be a real thing in my experience. Unless your wife needs to drag race Mustangs/Camaro's you won't have any problems.
Overall my 2D is pretty quiet with noise obviously louder as speed increases, but no louder than the several convertible (cars) that I've owned. I DO have an "imperfect seal" somewhere on the back side of the passenger window that once I find it I'll try the vacuum line trick. Hard to check for...
Haven't mounted a CB in the Bronco yet, but intend to. I carry a handheld GMRS/FRS as well. In my F150 there is plenty of room in the front dash area but I think I like the overhead panel option for the Bronco. Thanks Dez Pony!
I was a radio tech for decades and ran into these types of problems constantly. I agree with GroovyGeek on the timing issue. GMRS is FM and not particularly susceptible to the noise that could be generated by your compressor. There is probably more random RF being generated by all the...
just over 2 years and 10k miles on my base 2dr 2.3 auto that has seen a 5k mile roadtrip, duty in the "deerwoods", hauling small machine shop equipment and my wife's driving (probably going to get into trouble for that part!) with no problems, no issues other than a bit of paint removal on the...
I'm originally from Michigan...transplanted 40 years ago. I count myself blessed to live here. Welcome. Can't see our closest neighbors and only know we have any during deer/turkey seasons.
Base 2dr/auto, I get 24.5 highway/23.5 mixed. Normal mode using a heavy right foot mostly when required, occasionally just for a smile. Trip to Yellowstone I got a high of 27+ driving UP and down Yellowstone. (all mpg recorded on the lie-o-meter) I'd say there is something "not right" unless...
Great job!. Really surprised there isn't something to do this available commercially (haven't heard of any). Sounds like I will be spending some time in my shop fabricating one!
Who do you think really pays for the increased wages and benefits? we do... all us goobers that pay too much for our vehicles. Ford doesn't lose a dime. So the employees get higher pay and it gets eaten up by paying higher costs for the vehicle and services. What a win. :(
I wave at everyone on the roads near where I live. Broncos anywhere, but you are right, not too many wave back. Sign of the times. Waving didn't start with Jeeps. VW's did it all the time back in the day when they were air cooled Beatles.
Road conditions? How did the Bronco do? Issues with elevation? I'm in Eastern Idaho after running through Flaming Gorge and the Medicine Bow mountains in eastern Wyoming. 2.3/auto.
I just replaced the plastic one from my base model with a Body Armor bumper. Instructions said only one connection beneath the drivers side headlight... but there is none on the Base model!
Base that I put more aggressive wheels/tires on. Rides a bit stiff (according to the wife!) but it hasn't gotten any harsher than it was with the stock steelies and minivan tires.
