I did not get an alignment afterward. Is that expected protocol when replacing shocks? I wouldn't think that is needed but I guess YMMV? EDIT: A more complete answer is probably that I don't know TBH. I don't recall them saying they did or did not. And clearly I did not know any better :)
My 21 never had the rubber boots. Always just the bare shock....unless the boots came off at some point. Checked the other side when my reservoir fell off, no boot.
Updated shock for the recall. See the pic. Unsure if they're any better but here they are. Looks the same but with a fancy branded rubber boot. At minimum they'll last me another 4 years? /Shrug.
Backstory. My reservoir rusted through and fell off down the road, all fluid went up the back...
Update on my 2021 at the dealer now is that the recall replacement shocks are back ordered for 2 weeks. They said they could do an 'emergency shipment' and get them sooner. Maybe a couple days? In the interim its not driveable.....so I get a loaner. I suppose Ford doesn't have enough shocks...
So....I have mine in at the dealer right now for this recall, brought it in as soon as it was announced they had a fix. Dealer just called and said that Ford has the WRONG PART NUMBER LISTED IN THE RECALL NOTICE. So the dealer ordered the wrong parts. Then they had to tell Ford its the wrong...
I ended up using this https://www.westmarine.com/west-system-101-handy-repair-pack-318329.html
I cut away the dark gray exterior pieces that were loose and shaped it into a small square. My dent was about the size of a nickel. I let the product soak into the interior cardboard...did that a few...
Yep, found the pieces on a dealer parts website. Each front T top section was $1600, middle was $830 and rear was unknown.....but I'm sure it has to be more than the front sections.
I think that ideally a replacement is the way to go. BUT aftermarket is $6K, 3 months to deliver it, $500 insurance deductible. Current choice is to repair. JB Weld has a JB PlasticWeld that lists off most hard plastics as being compatible. Will settle and level off, I'll let it cure, sand...
I like the concept of this but the aftermarket unit is $6K! Granted, minus insurance, but still... https://www.advfiberglass.com/products/2021-2023-ford-bronco-hardtop?variant=39545751535718
So apparently a branch fell onto my roof at some point, I park under a tree etc. About the size of a quarter. Did not go all the way through. 2021 Badlands with 2nd gen roof. Just saw it and am wondering about patching it. What would you use to repair? I'm thinking something that would...
MN owner here too, 18,500 miles roughly and have had the noise since day one. Got it in November of 21 and other than the noise I have no issues with the tranny and clutch.
