I got a text message (from the dealership) the other day notifying me to schedule an appointment for the loose seat bolt recall. When I called to make an appointment, the rep informed me that I have 3 open recalls. The loose bolt, the fuel pump and the hardtop. I was pleasantly surprised about...
I'll add one for "Teetering Tuesdays". Very likely would have been a "Tip Over Thursday" shot, without the 90-pound fridge in the passenger side back corner. Wheeling is fun!
I'm running LT 285/75 R17, C Load Falken Wildpeak R/Ts. They spec at 34.1" diameter with a 11.5" cross section. My Black Diamond has 1.5" lift and 8.5 x 17 wheels with +35mm offset. The narrower tire fit nicely under the narrower flares. There are a few other "milder" options available in the...
Have you considered Walker Ends links? It's a bit of a compromise but easier on the wallet. I've noticed a huge difference with them on my 2-door Black Diamond.
I finished a DYI sliding "tailgate" and cargo area shelf for my 2 Door. The sliding tailgate has been in use a while now and works well with my fridge, still allowing access to the floor storage area. I'll probably refinish it this winter with a more durable bed liner product. The shelf provides...
I'd have to look to see the model, but I've had a California Air twin tank compressor in my garage for 10+ years. It's quiet and I've had no issues with it. I used to run air tools with it, but have switched over to battery powered tools (for the most part). I recommend them.
I went through the same debate 4 years ago and decided to get a Black Diamond, and I rock crawl in Moab. I had the dealer put 33" tires (Falken AT3Ws) on it before I picked it up and later on upgraded the shocks to Bilstein 5100 (set at 1.5" lift--right around the ride height of the Badlands)...
Behind the Rocks Tip Toe. The pictures are coming down Nose Dive (AKA High Dive). It and Launch Pad on the other side of the ravine are the most difficult obstacles. Great trail but a long day.
Last Friday my Bronco threw the "Check Brake System" warning. I took it into the dealer Monday with a copy of the service bulletin. Described to the service rep that what happened exactly matches the SB and that it is most likely the vacuum line. Two days later and after a $185 diagnostic fee...
Frontrunner makes a good holder.
https://www.frontrunneroutfitters.com/en/us/double-jerry-can-holder.html
They also make a single can version.
Before I got my roof platform, I mounted it to a cheap basket on the factory rails. I had no issues with the holder (or rack) over the 150+ miles of...
Some additional recommendations:
3-D, Crystal Geyser and Dome Plateau.
There's also a network of mild trails north of Arches. There's an interesting/scenic route that starts out in the Klondike Bluffs area and ties into the Dome Plateau trail.
I also highly recommend the Tower Arch/Eye of the...
I agree. I see the same with the younger workers at the facility I manage. I think it is the result of our digital/technology dominated culture. It's frustrating but it's me, my managers and supervisors that determine what is acceptable work quality, and it's up to us to train and manage to...
Yep, but that could be one more oil change. Possibly an extra $5/day for the tech, $20/week, $100/month. That makes a difference when you're only making $17 or so an hour.
The main point I was trying to make is that most of us have no idea the pressure the techs at some shops feel to crank out...
Don't be so quick to disparage the dealership techs. They are under a ton of pressure from management to do their job as quick as possible. Some techs also get a small bonus for every vehicle serviced. For you it's an extra 30 seconds. For a tech it's an extra 30 seconds per vehicle, 20 or more...
No winch (yet). Just the factory modular bumper. Looks like Eljohno had a more relevant reply for you. Hope it works out like you want.
As for the 5100s. They've been great and have held up to two different "events" that first crushed the driver side shock bump stop and then the passenger side...
Great topic! I've already taken notes to follow up on.
So far the only set plans we have are to class up the Easter Jeep Safari. We've signed up for the 3 day, 2 night Hole-In-The-Rock camping trail. Last time we ran that trail was in 2008 when my retired XJ (purple Jeep in the background) was...
