We met up at Broom Flat at 9:00, some earlier than others but we got aired down.

Tina arrived with a migraine and felt it best not to proceed so she passed out some ice water and headed back into town to recover. This left us with 8 as we headed through the canyon on our way to Heartbreak Ridge.

The trail was pretty uneventful until we got a little past Pontiac Sluice. The Pontiac is all but buried now and I think a Tesla role over it so we continued on.

We came to our first spicy section just after the section where the loop ends meet up. Tom M was getting hung up a bit and so I started throwing a few rocks and offered a blood sacrifice :sneaky: .
the wife helped me get it taped up ⚕ and I was back in action 🤠.

Pro tip for you folks at home. Move hand then throw rock ;) vice what I often end up doing as confusion sets in . Needless to say, I smacked my thumb good. I’ve had it tapped up the past few days, but I think I’m going to lose the nail. Yeah, I’ve been here before. So not looking forward to that as it can get a bit sensitive.

Then we had Anthony which I found out at this time was in a base w/ no Lockers. Well, that provided the opportunity to perform more rock stacking & thankfully I decided to implement my own Pro Tip and keep my hands out of the way this time around. Once a few strategic rocks were placed we had Anthony carry a little momentum through and off he was.

We made our way up the mountain with a few more spotting opportunities and took lunch at the summit. We paid our respects to our Fallen Hero USMC Major Alan Rowe and Our Local institution Danny Bogner, who’s monument went in last year. It looks great @Dusty!

After that we gathered ourselves up and made our way down the backside of the mountain. @Tom b & myself optioned to run the rocky riverbed vice the high road providing a little more challenge to what seems to be a little spicier of a trail than when I ran it a few years back.

We found ourselves exiting onto Burns Canyon. A short way down we took on the challenge of Sidewinder Canyon. It was rated lower than heartbreak Ridge, but it had a couple sections that rivaled it. Once we made our way out of Sidewinder Canyon, Troy & his son parted ways as they worked their way to Pioneer Town. If you haven’t heard of it, look it up, it’s a pretty neat place and is an active film set town that has a Bar that has 2 or 3 stages for live entertainment.

The rest of us made it back the way we came. It was good running with a few familiar faces again.

Thank you all for coming out. Please add any comments & pictures you might have 🤠

Thanks for leading that run! We took a group of 14 up on Sunday. Had to leave a 4-door Base-non-squatch on 37's down at the sluice because some electronic malfunction kicked it out of 4WD. They hopped in with the others then we got him turned around on our way back out. Yeah that trail has gotten worse (aka better!) over the past few years :)

No problem, It was a good time. Sometimes just pulling the negative battery cable for a few minutes can fix that issue 🤠
