So I really tried to avoid starting another B&O upgrade thread but I've spent several hours for multiple days trying to read through all the previous threads. They all offer great info but I've still got questions. I have a 2024 4-door Badlands with the LUX and B&O packages. For the most part, I like the B&O system and think it does a good job considering the challenges involved in designing a system for a vehicle like the Bronco - I watched the 2-part video on the system design and it is pretty cool to see what the engineers did to come up with this system. I run my system in surround mode as I enjoy the imaging off the windshield. I also have both tops, and in my opinion the system seems to "open up" when the top is off. I primarily use Apple Music on CarPlay and my listening ranges from 90s to country to current pop. All of that being said, I'm just looking to tighten things up a bit.
I'm leaning towards upgrading the dash, kick panel, and rear speakers with aftermarket ones, and maybe adding a Kicker 500.1 amp and aftermarket sub in the factory enclosure. My questions, in no particular order:
1. Looking at Kicker KS or CS speakers. My understanding is the CS will seem louder and brighter on the factory B&O amp and the KS will provide a more balanced and fuller sound, but seem a little softer and require the volume to be set higher, even though they both have the same efficiency rating. Anyone have real-life experiences with either of these? Should I also look at other brands and if so, what else is out there? Hertz, JL, Infinity...? For reference, my volume is normally between 10-20.
2. If I run a coax in the kick panels, will the DSP cut off the high end and it will still remain just a mid? If so, would a plain midrange perform better and what would go with either of the Kickers?
3. I think I read somewhere that the center dash speaker has a bass blocker but the left and right don't? If I put the same 4" 2-way in all 3 spots, will I need a bass blocker for the center?
4. How will the fake engine noise be affected by these upgrades? Will it become louder where I'll need someone with Forscan to disable it? I don't have Forscan myself.
Thanks for any advice!
