I picked up one of the cheap $30 mesh sunshades off eBay for my two door Bronco, mainly because I only needed coverage for the front seats. Most of the bigger name options were full length and a lot more expensive, which didn’t make much sense for my setup since I have the rear seat delete and it’s usually just me and my wife riding in it.

For most of the year I keep the hard top on, but I do remove the front panels pretty often, especially in the summer and while driving on the beach. The sun can get brutal, so I wanted something simple to cut it down a bit.

With a couple small modifications, this cheap shade works surprisingly well. I replaced the front four bungees with black paracord, shortened the side bungees by about half, and changed the rear mounting points so the paracord runs over and around the roll bar. After that, it fit much tighter and more secure.

It’s lightweight, easy to install, doesn’t flap around, and stays surprisingly quiet even around 65 mph. For what I needed, just coverage over the two front seats, I really don’t see the need to spend $300 on one of the big name versions.

Posting this mainly to say, if you only want something simple for running with the front panels off, don’t automatically overlook the cheap mesh shades. With a little tweaking, they actually work pretty well.
