Yep. Failed pinion bearing.
I've seen a few on here. I'm not going to complain. I have owned 8 new vehicles over the last 10 years and my Wildtrak has been flawless until this happened at 51k?!?

Extended warranty time if Ford will let me buy one. This baby isn't going anywhere. 🤠

Yeah it happens periodically on all models really. I just rebuilt the front differential in a 23 navigator the other week for the same issue.
Sometimes parts just fail.

Geez either thats a huge bearing race for that pinion or you have tiny hands (i kid)

This one came out of mine at 70k - no failure but you can see some scoring in it

Curious for the folks that have had failures if you had changed the diff oil at any point or not.

I have owned many off road vehicles for 25 years with Dana differentials. I have never had to change diff fluid under 80k miles.

I asked because I know a lot of folks have seen a lot of metal in the diff oil during the differential break-in period. I changed mine, and based on what I saw in the oil I'm glad I did. No way that wouldn't contribute to premature failure.

Well this is NOT THE CLUB I WANTED TO JOIN but I'm now a member. 38,000 miles and rear differential has failed, unless metal pieces are supposed to pour out with the differential fluid!
