Taking mental notes because so many think big tires + lockers = invincible.

When I come to a water crossing, or mud hole, unless I know for sure how deep it is - no way! And a slick muddy hill? eesh.
I've done plenty of water crossings without any issue at all tbh. It helps that most of them are technically "roads" in WV, so I know there's some kind of base there.

The biggest issue was honestly that there was a little rock lined trench for erosion control right at the base of the hill. Without that, I'd have had plenty of momentum & the bad spot was only about 12-15' long. But yeah that little spot kept my Bronco trapped in the woods for 2 days lol

Left the top in the hotel on a warm DRY day of unexplored trails. Still trying the remove the dust from the Oh Sh!t handles, visor mirrors, the micro crevasses surrounding the window controls…. The roof liner…. Argh…. But SO Worth It!!

Until last week, the dumbest thing was hitting a piece of a blown tire cruising down the highway. Couldn't change lanes, but I could have slowed and swerved a bit to miss it. It slapped up against my door pretty hard and now I have a dent and some clear coat scratches. That was pretty dumb.

But this past weekend, I used Forscan to update my tire size and turn off double honk and the seatbelt warning. Got it pretty close. Then left for my commute (4 hour drive). Stopped with about a quarter tank to fill up. Started the gas and went inside to use the restroom. Came out hung up the gas nozzle and drove off. I get down the road a ways, and still only have a quarter of a tank of gas. I instantly think that I had screwed something up with Forscan that caused the fuel guage to get stuck at a quarter tank.

Stop at another gas station, sit for about 20 minutes looking up Forscan fuel guage issues and couldn't find anything. Then it hit me to check my bank card account and sure enough, the pump had cut off almost immediately after I walked away and I'd only put $5 worth of gas in it when I stopped.

Coming across debris in the fwy is a tough thing to deal with because often there are no good options.
This past w/e driving on the fwy through downtown LA there was a freakin chair in the fwy in my lane! Thankfully it was to the left side and the car ahead of me in the left lane did not touch it so it didn't get thrown further into the middle of my lane. Cars to the left and right of me so no place to go, and we were doing 60+mph in heavy traffic so couldn't slam on the brakes.
All I could think of was my new (2500 miles) Bronco was going to get damaged! Bullet dodged.

Yeah I hate that stuff. I watched a welder lose his Igloo cooler at 75 MPH a decent bit in front of me one time. That cooler was scootin' right down the highway like it wanted to climb back on the truck!

So I changed lanes, and the cooler changed lanes, too! I changed back and luckily the cooler tumbled off the side of the road, lol.

A tarp flew off a truck and hit me on my moto completely blinding me. My gf on the back kept her wits and pulled it off while I kept my Ducati straight. We then immediately pulled off the fwy, parked, and sat awhile to calm down...

I had a similar experience heading out to the Bronco Safari in Moab. Coming into the Port of Entry at the Utah State Line, I looked down for a moment, but when I looked back up there were big concrete blocks bigger than a cinder block littered all over my lane and the lane to the right as I'm doing about 85 Mph with nowhere to go . I think I got it down to just under 70 Mph when the passenger side front nails one of these chunks straight on. Dash goes nuts. Pull over at the nearest gas station to find the axle burped a whole lot of grease all over the place, but the boot stayed on.

:ROFLMAO: I ride daily to work and fully envision this. Man, the things I've seen, smelt and dodged and didn't on a bike over the years. Boy Howdie 🤠
