Tailgate RTR fuel carrier, Jerry Cans Wavian, metal/ plastic & Hot Water

RTR fuel carrier- anyone install one? Did you install on to Braptor hinges?

Jerry Cans ‘Wavian’ specific

I don’t generally need extra fuel but there are times so I‘ll get a red metal.

But when not carrying extra fuel I will carry water

Black metal (water/rust?) or blue plastic ( ability to heat via sun)

Not for drinking (emergency maybe) but for hot showers off-road …

Yes there were/ are other means but having the option to carry fuel or water seems a good use for the RTR carrier .

NOT interested in a different BRAND(s)

I want the ability to carry a can but the RTR and other tailgate carriers currently on the market really don't grab me, and I don't want to settle for Rotopax.
In an ideal world I'd love to have a slick, OEM-looking way to carry a "race" can like a VP or something.

I have the rtr mount but I had to do some modifications to get it to work with my Jerry can. It’s not the same as yours but they built the mount to only work with their Jerry can.

You can see the circled red area shows where I had to cut the metal to fit my Jerry can.
Besides the fitment issue is the rattle. Even with music on and all windows up, the slightest crack on the road will make it sound like your truck is falling apart. This thing rattles like crazy! I put rubber bushings between all the bolts of the sliding mechanism and then super glued some 2 inch thick weather stripping to the plastic Jerry can to get the rattles to stop (except for when shutting the tailgate)
Now that I’ve fixed all the issues, I’m pretty happy with it but I was super annoyed at the beginning. Its like RTR designs these great products but never tests them real world.

Thanks for responding
Looking at their design I figured with all the moving parts it would make noise…

they built the mount to only work with their Jerry can.
They just are a seller of Wavian nato gas cans… The one I showed was a plastic Wavian can.

I have the RTR mounted on the RTR Plate. I hold a standard Nato jerry can without any issues. My shower system looks to be the same wavian water carrier, and needed only very minor heat to mold to the top of the mount. The fuel can doesn't lock which worries me.

If the metal one they’re selling is the same brand, then maybe. Try giving them a call and see if it’ll fit but if you need to cut, it was pretty easy with a dremel and metal file. Let me know if you do any other mods to it if you go that route, good luck!

Is your shower using a black can warm enough or too hot?

I live in the SF Bay area, it doesn't get hot enough for it to be too hot..

I lived on Fillmore and Geary for 5 years, you’re a brave man having all the toys on your truck there. I’d be too scared people would steal everything off of it

no no - it’s not “their Jerry can” it’s designed for it’s the nato ones you get anywhere. I’ve used mine for water (Swiss aluminum can), a converted into a portable bourbon bar Jerry can, and a regular ol red Jerry can.

mine doesn’t rattle or make noise really. Very snug. Even off roading on rocky trails. I haven’t added anything to it but a piece of vinyl where the can would wear the powdercoat over the last few years.

can confirm also works perfectly w Swiss link stainless water can because it’s identical in dimensions to the nato Jerry can. Like this one:

Mine had a bad rattle even before I modified it. Maybe I just got something out of spec. Glad yours worked well, that’s a great looking Bronco, who makes your rear bumper?
