We traded in our 2025 Badlands SAS for a 2026 BRapter last Friday and picked it up this morning. One of the first items that was added this afternoon is a set of KC Flex Era3 ditchlights.
We searched the internet for a good explanation of how to install the lights before stumbling on a couple of detailed threads here. I wish to thank everyone who blazed the path before me.
Here’s a couple of thoughts on the processed.
The videos from KC are lacking. The accurate information came from here.
The wiring harness as shipped sucks. Once light of information shined (lightbulb moment) it became much clearer. Just cut everything off leaving the one harness that attached to the 2-lights and a small portion of the harness that would have been connected to the other useless (to me) harness.
The wiring from the lights turned out to be way too short by a matter of several inches. I didn’t find this out until I had both lights installed. I ended up loosening the cowing allowing me to pull more wiring into the engine bay and connecting the harness before reinstalling the lights on their individual pillars.
I thought I was on easy street after I had installed the light and bracket on the driver’s side only to run into a lot of difficulty seating the passenger side. The driver’s side took less than 5-minutes while the pax side taking closer to 30.
In the end the lights are mounted. The harness is connected. The only remaining item is to connect to the upfitter and ground which takes place in the morning.
Again I owe a debt of gratitude to those who took the time before me to ask the same question I had (how the hell to I do this) and for those who contributed the asnwers.
