Thanks to all the BRONCO 6G members that have shared their “build” modifications… they have given us all the inspiration & ideas to outfit our Broncos. I want to share my personal journal as I transform my own Bronco from the virgin Azure Gray 2.7 Black Diamond Scratchcrotch to “KRAKEN”… monster from the deep!

The virgin KRAKEN…

Removed the Black Diamond stickers and put one on the back glass and one on the inside of the swing gate. Installed satin black cursive Bronco badges on the fenders and replaced the chrome pony on the gate with a flat black one. If you ain’t rockin’ the cursive Bronco script you don’t know what you are missing.

First mod was installing IAG Front Mudflaps. As stated by many members, these Goodyear tires are gravel slingers of the highest order. I have a long gravel driveway & frequent gravel county roads… pretty sure these tires have got to go.

Next up was a pair of Havoc Offroad Trailcrawler Steps/Rails. Installation was easily done by myself using another member’s suggestion of using the shipping box to rest the rails on to get in position. After removing the factory rock rails, I painted the pinch welds with rattle can black primer/flat black high heat paint. The Havoc Trailcrawlers sit nice & high with good ground clearance but are a little high to make a good ergonomic step if that’s what you want. Kudos to Havoc Offroad…the rails came packaged very well with custom molded bumper caps on the ends. These rails are perfect for me… exactly what I wanted.

Even with the mudflaps & the rails I am still getting gravel slung up on the paint. Very annoying… these tires have definitely got to go.

Installed a pair of Ford Performance RIGID 360-Series 4 inch driving lights on JCR Ditch/Mirror Light Brackets. I didn’t want to install the lights directly to the mirror cowl and used JCR mounts to move the lights outward so the driver side is behind the pillar from the driver’s view. Also moves the lights slightly up & away from the hood to help minimize hood glare. Also replaced the factory antenna with a Votex, The Spartan, 13 3/4 inch rubber Antenna with blue carbon fiber trim.

Installed a RYNOSKIN Trailer Hitch Receiver. Welds look good & it has a textured bedliner finish. I will not be towing with the Bronco… I have a 2014 F150 for that. The main use is for a motorcycle rack to haul my electric bicycle & I need to get a cargo basket before deer season. Installed an AYA Gear Shackle with a blue isolator & a hitch lock.

Here's a few mods to my 2dr Badlands. The 2 hard to see ones are: Oracle ring 3rd brake light inside spare tire, Baja Designs dual 'chase light' mounted inside spare tire, to the bracket. The others are easy to see...

Directed my attention under the hood and installed Redline Tuning Max-Lift Hood Struts… so much better than having to use the prop rod. I left the prop rod in place as a backup. Also installed a JCR 2.7 Engine Cover with a little pony decoration using a simple stencil & some Rust-Oleum Ford Blue engine enamel. Do I need and engine cover? “No”. Do I like it? “Yes”. Do you like it? “Doesn’t matter to me, it’s not your Bronco”. I had to cover up some of that engine bay…that’s not a V8 under there. As one member stated, “it looks like a big old bucket of black snakes”. Shout-out to JCR for the excellent packaging of the engine cover for shipping. Also installed a Stickerfab Underhood Fuse Box Label on the underside of the fuse box lid.

I actually like the look of the JCR Engine Cover! It cleans up the mess that is under the hood of these trucks.

Hello, this is my very first post here. Been stalking the web site since May. I have a BD in AGM ordered and scheduled for 8/28. Non-Sas , V6 with upgraded wheels. I absolutely love your truck and can’nt wait for mine to arrive. I have now added that engine shield to my must have list. The Bronco stencil looks great! Where did you get that and how did you get the front numbers colored? Details please

For the stencil I simply found a bucking bronco image online, copied it to PowerPoint and sized it to the size I wanted, printed it on a sheet of adhesive backed label printer stock, then carefully cut out the image with an Exacto knife. You could use card stock or even paper if you were careful & gentle with the spray paint. The label stock allows you to stick it to the engine cover & not have bleed out around the stencil edges. The 2.7 numbers I painted by hand with a small paintbrush using the same paint sprayed heavily onto a coffe can lid used as a palette. Photo is the bottom side of the stencil.
