  1. ProCal and flagged VIN in OASIS

Well, it seems that anything that the tune would touch would be invalidated, but to your point the rest of your touchscreen/modules/etc would still be protected. Still, with how easy it is program things with Forscan I'd just pick something up from a junkyard and install myself if a module...
  2. Sound Deadening/Insulation Options for Painted Hardtops

How did you get those panels off? I feel like if I force the plastic retainers any more they will just break.
  3. I received a new owners welcome gift in my oil filter.

Not for nothing, but BMW is definitely not the bottom of the barrel anymore in terms of quality.
  4. I received a new owners welcome gift in my oil filter.

Thank you. This is the exact thing I was thinking - that I would never have known had I taken it to a dealer. I'll email them - thanks for the lead!

After sleeping on it, I suppose the only thing to do is drive it and get an oil analysis. If it blows up, it will be very hard to deny a warranty claim with the issue documented. I'm still pissed, but as they say - don't cry over spilled milk.

I want to keep the filter in-tact to deliver to dealer. There was nothing obvious in the pan. Poured some of the filter oil out to inspect, very very slight sparkles. What I would expect to see from a motor during break in.

no, all free. The strip came out of the feed hole. Not tangled in the filter media
  8. I received a new owners welcome gift in my oil filter.

Good question. There is very slight magnetism to the strips. definitely not steel based, some kind of alloy.
  9. I received a new owners welcome gift in my oil filter.

Poor metaphor. More like, there is a crack in the foundation. Do I patch it and hope for the best or rip it and do it again? You can live in a house with no drywall, you can't drive a car without an engine.

The "probably" is the part if have an issue with. Well aware nothing is perfect. I've been working on finnicky european cars my whole life and had my fair share of heartbreak. I just expect more from a brand new vehicle with modern manufacturing techniques and quality processes.
  11. I received a new owners welcome gift in my oil filter.

Yeah I know its a strong reaction, but FFS it is a brand new car. I am going to get the oil tested. The only thing that makes me feel SLIGHTLY okay, is that the metal has no discoloration (heat) so as you said likely a manufacturing defect. But come on, how can I NOT feel bad about this?
  12. I received a new owners welcome gift in my oil filter.

Man, I was so stoked to perform my first oil change today at 1278 miles! 2026 Heritage 2.3 7MT. My FIRST EVER brand new car. I read the oil thread and the other one about the change in filters for 2025+ MY MPC engines. I settled on Valvoline 5w30 Advanced protection full synthetic and carquest...
  13. Charlotte the Heritage 7MT

No None taken, Ive been driving stick since I was 12 (I'm 38). All of them have been light, quick revving European vehicles. It all has to do with how quick I am used to shifting. IE, release of gas and clutch in being one seamless movement. I have to slow down my inputs for the bronco, which...
  14. Oil formulations are changing due to geopolitics (i.e. Pennzoil Platinum) - time to test your preference...

Soooo for someone who would like to perform his first oil change on a 2.3 now that I've hit 1300 miles......what the hell should I use?! Been on the restore and protect train with my Saab and happy with the performance so far.
